Oklahoma leapfrogs UT

Yep. Ironical that all of UT's hopes and dreams are riding on OU beating OSU. I find that amusing.

from what i understand, they should give up hoping and schedule stiffer competition to help them with both the voters and the computers. if ou beats osu, the bcs win will put ou over the horns. nor can the horns hope for a loss by the sooners - that will send the zorros. i think texas banked their season on no worse than a two way tie. their predicament is really all their fault. they could have either tried harder in their ooc, or made sure they did not lose. with that loss comes all the critical look at the season. they have not shown they are better - they played all but 4 games at their home, they did not play a stunning ooc. not even a decent ooc. no road wins versus ranked opponents. they deserve to wait to see how this shakes out. from all indications, it will not be in their favor no matter the outcome.

the situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture, be done on somebody's part. that part is texas, who is flying a plane over bedlam tomorrow.

TT is tossed out of the equation because of the magnitude of the beat down OU gave them to be in the one loss discussion.

dont know what else to tell ya. probably just gonna have to agree to dissagree. :smile2:

you can't just "toss out" TTech's victory over Texas because of 1. it was in Lubbock or 2. OU jacked Tech by 44 points. doing so discredits the fantastic job Leach and Tech has done this season incljuding their victory over a #1 team.

if you do want to "throw out" the Tech vicotry over Texas, then in all fairness, as you are taking away Texas's one loss, then you need to take away OU an Tech's one loss too and look at each team being 11-0 and see who is deserving. If you do that, it is hands down Oklahoma.

Teams that schedule **** OOC games don't deserve to go the mNC. It's understandable if you schedule a BCS team and they under perform that year. It's not understandable if you only schedule teams from non-BCS conferences.

OU's OOC
UT-Chatanooga
Cincy (Big East Champs)
@Washington (one the worst teams in the nation--schedule some WAC or FCS teams and they aren't the worst), but have a strong history....bad luck)
TCU (#14 currently, #2 in the MWC and while it isn't BCS they manhandled their OOC opponents and have a winning record against the Pac-10)

Texas' OOC
Florida Atlantic
Utep
Rice
Arkansas

OU has a much better OOC schedule and they even played away from home before conference play; El Paso is still a part of the UT system and by all accounts they had 20k Longhorn fans at the game. TT has the most laughable OOC schedule of all 3. Teams should be rewarded when you look at the entire picture.

Points for:
OU has 579 points in 11 games. (avg 53) Includes beating #24 TCU in OCC
UT has 527 points in 12 games. (avg 44) Includes no ranked teams in OCC

Points against:
OU has 257 in 11 games (avg 23)
UT has 223 in 12 games (avg 19)

I do not believe that OU's destruction of Tech should be held against the Sooners. If OU would have beaten TT by 1 point, then it would be harder to dismiss Tech from their claim to the title. But because OU demolished a #2 Tech team, UT conveniently ignores that Tech is a factor in this 11-1 tie situation.

OU has been more potent. They should get the nod provided they get past the Pokes.

A lot of the points against OU have been with their 2nd and 3rd string guys in there since they score early and often. The depth they have is ridiculous.

OU's defense has allowed 44 touchdowns this year, 13 of those have come with less than 5 minutes left in the game, 7 of those 13 have been with less than a minute left, alll when the outcome of the game was clearly decided and 2nd and 3rd stringers are in.

Same as in the offense. I know of 2 games that Bradford sat in the 2nd quarter, Tenn Chat and the UW game. He did come back and play one series in the 3rd quarter of halftime in both of those game. In the other 9 games he has played only the entire 4th quater in one, against Texas, in the other 8 he has played in the 4th quarter sparingly, if at all....

Without a doubt they are clearly the beast team in the Big XII. What one forgets, OU held a lead until an illegal chop block (not called, but replays show it was a very blantant chop block with the sole intent to injure, same as what happened to Gerald McCoy against Washington)) took down Ryan Reynolds midway in the 3rd quarter against Texas. He is/was the defensive play caller for the OU defense and was keeping Colt Mccoy and Texas's offense in check up till then. The defense with Austin Box at MLB is finally getting back to the point it was at before Rtan Reynolds was injured.
