Track and Field
For anyone that is interested, I will update this thread at least once a week and probably more so everything is pretty much up to date.
Too many service errors by upperclassmen. That is giving away points.
Agree 100%. I'm sure they are trying to "serve tough" but that's too many errors.
I noticed the service errors when following the Live Stats. The upperclassmen should know how to serve by now. You can serve tough without all these errors.
An update for your on Stanford. They beat Iowa State 3-0, Nebraska 3-0, #1 Penn State 3-2 and Illinois 3-2. They will be ranked #1 in this week's poll.
Thank you. Is Katherine Hawkins still on the team, injured or riding the end of the bench?
You know what, I was wondering the same thing. She's a sophomore who hasn't seen any playing time as a freshman or yet this season, so I'm thinking that maybe she's had a problem with injuries. I found her facebook page and there was nothing suggesting that she left or is planning on leaving the team.
I talked to Hawkins after the match last night. Last night was the first match this season (including the pre-season scrimmage) that she was in uniform. She says she is finally healthy. The teams other DS, Gwen Herring, is out with a concussion now after having a knee problem earlier in the season. But they have been using frosh OH Stephanie Shadley as a back row player and she had been delivering. She has a nice serve and, in addition to her decent defense, adds a back row hitting option that they have used a few times.
I had seen on Twitter after a match that Gwen was being treated for a concussion--a tweet by teammate. Thanks for the information.
Looks like several volleyball players haven't seen any time recently. Rachel Hargis came back for the ASU match after missing the previous six. Katherine Hawkins still hasn't seen any time yet. Joslyn Hayes has missed the last two. Gwen Herring has missed the last six. Erin Taylor hasn't seen any time in the last seven and has only played in 3 sets all season.
Hargis was on the trip to USC and UCLA.
I believe in one of the telecasts against one of the AZ schools (can't remember which one) last weekend, one of the announcers may have mentioned TWO defensive specialists are coming back from concussions. Since I saw that Erin Taylor wasn't in uniform either match last weekend, I therefore assume she MAY (???) also be recovering (along with Gwen Herring) from a concussion. (Tough sport (assuming the injuries were volleyball- related)- maybe they need to raid the football equipment room and steal some helmets!)
Updated. According to the box score, Katherine Hawkins saw her first playing time of the season against UCLA.
I know that it's very late, but I updated the final stats and standings for volleyball and will do the other sports sometime over the next couple of days.
I've finally updated the final soccer standings and stats
J/K. I appreciate your effort.
I've just uploaded a bunch of stats for the spring season sports.
