OU's Bob Stoops intrigued by Pac-10 merger

Notice how the Pac 10 is calling it an expansion of its conference while the Big 12 South guys are trying to call it a merger?

Watch out Pac, they want nothing to do with your conference maintaining its identity or culture. They don't relate to it. In fact, they ridicule it. CU actually belongs and, funny enough, it's a main reason we're interested in leaving the Big 12 for the Pac 10.

I still dont think it will be 6 teams like people keep saying. The PAC is stupid if it takes anything more than CU and Utah. It just seems to be too much too quick and not needed. If they just want a CCG 12 is all they need. Adding tornado alley just makes it a disaster in terms of travel and with the teams still rarely playing each other because the conference is so large that has to take away from the appeal of the TV networks. I mean they are only drooling over USC/UT but that will happen every few years. In the meantime there will be plenty of WSU/TT type stuff. Most of these schools are just too far apart and have nothing in common for it to make a good rivalry. Utah and CU on the other hand are still close enough to travel well to and are for the most part within a day's drive.

TV dollars timbuff.. UT and to a lesser extent OU bring the TV dollars and a bigger profile to the league.

OU is the #1 program in college football history. That's a big ****ing deal to add to your conference. With OU, USC and UT, the new conference would have 3 Top 10 all-time programs. Add in CU, TAMU, UCLA and Washington and that's another 4 programs in the all-time Top 25. That's pretty stacked.
