    I still like the zipper with the 2 paired rivalry games in the other division so that everyone plays the 4 teams in its regional pod every year. (I believe this is what is described as the "cooler".)

    Even with 1 paired rival, the zipper gets a higher grade than any of the North-South configurations using that generator.

    Zipper.

    It's really the only way to do it, if you ask me. It gives everybody access to every other part of the conference every year. The only thing I'd prefer is to have Stanford in the same division as CU instead of Cal. Otherwise, I really don't care if they put CU with Washington or WSU (well, bad example, I'd prefer UW, but I digress), Oregon and/or Oregon St. USC/UCLA and AZ/ASU.

    I'm rad. Look at this one: Alphabetical...94. Solid A for me.

    Problem with zipper is that Cal schools may boycott because they want to play all other Cal schools each year, which zipper doesn't allow for. Therefore, cooler is way to go in my opinion.

    That's a load of horse-sh*t. The zipper would have Cal playing UCLA and Stanford every year, and USC two out of every four years (for example). That's not bad if you're a tree hugger.

    I don't disagree with you, but this is what I'm hearing from the California schools. And the cooler is much better for CU than ending up in a division with the Northwest schools.

    It does if you have 2 fixed rivals in the other division instead of 1.

    I really don't understand why people have assumed 1 rival. It leaves the regional rivalries incomplete and makes the schedule funky. 3 open conference slots per year rotating among 5 teams from the other division. With 2 fixed rivals, you play all the regional matchups every season and for scheduling you get 2 open conference slots per year rotating among 4 teams from the other division. It's clean.

    Zipper
    West: Washington, Oregon State, California, UCLA, Arizona State, Utah
    East: Washington State, Oregon, Stanford, USC, Arizona, Colorado

    CU schedule: WSU, UO, Stan, USC, UA, UU, ASU + 2 from UW, OSU, Cal, UCLA

    Not familiar with the cooler. Does it have CU and Stanford in the same division? Does it have CU in the same division with either UCLA or USC? If so, I'm fine with it. Otherwise, it sucks.

    Completely random, but my ideal division would be:

    Colorado, Washington, Cal, Oregon, Arizona, UCLA

    I guess I'm rooting for the zipper.

    I would prefer Cal over Stanford.

    Negatory. Tailgating at Cal sucks. Tailgating at Stanford is top notch. You need to re-think your priorities, young man.

    Bah.
    Harder to get to. Harder to find parking. Not as nice a venue. Unless you're planning on tailgating in the middle of town, Stanford is way better. And even if you are planning on tailgating in the middle of town, Stanford is better.

    Plus, you really think Berkley is better than Palo Alto? Really? Not by me, but to each his own, I guess.

    fwiw, most Pac-10 fans on other boards are saying that it's almost a done deal that the 4 California schools are going to be paired with the 2 Arizona schools in a Pac-12 South. The CA schools are pushing this hard and are giving in on equal revenue sharing from the media contracts in order to make this happen.

    Agree. Although from a competitive standpoint, it seems like it works.

    Crap that sucks if it comes out with this type of division. I really don't want the Pac 12 to be split apart in something that seems so similar to how the Big 12 was split with all the schools in a large recruiting hotbed schools in a single division.

    I got a 97 by having this set up (91 comp, 100 rivalry, 100 geography)

    Division A:

    Arizona
    Arizona State
    Cal
    Stanford
    USC
    UCLA

    Division B:

    CU
    Utah
    Oregon
    Oregon State
    Washington State
    Washington

    I zippered the Mountain schools and put the Buffs and Wildcats with the four California schools and got a 98.

    A: UA, CU, Cal, Stan, USC, UCLA
    B: ASU, UU, UW, WSU, UO, OSU

    That is perhaps the only 100 comp I have gotten along with 100 rivalries.

    This one got an A+ (100) and it is by far the best way for the divisions to be split, IMHO. I don't understand why this isn't talked about as the best way by most people. It is the most logical and most fair.

    in case you don't feel like clicking the link...

    Div A W/X-over game Div B
    CU --------------------> UW
    UU --------------------> WSU
    ASU -------------------> OSU
    UA --------------------> UO
    USC -------------------> UCLA
    CAL -------------------> STAN

    Zipper is the best idea. This keeps it from becomign like the Big XII with all the tough schools in one division.
    Keep Utah and CU separate, WSU and WU separate, Oregon and Oregon ST separate, ASU and UA separate, Cal and Stanford, UCLA and USC...it'll be awesome that way.

    I'm telling you. Alphabetical is the only way that makes sense. It got a 94!
