It makes a big difference to play Texas schools on your schedule.

But even taking that into consideration, the B1G is accomplishing more in the Lone Star State than the Pac-12. Especially with Arizona and Colorado sharing some of the southwest and cowboy culture, it should be better than this.

Oregon has gotten some good ones from Texas in the last decade. Because of the California-centric geography in that conference the schools rarely have to go outside the footprint.

The real gem of the schools from states that don't border Texas is Mizzou. Some of Gary Pinkel's greatest contributors were signed from Texas high schools. In Pinkel's 14 seasons in Columbia he has had 16 different players from the state of Texas selected to either the Big 12 or SEC's 1st or 2nd all-conference teams. Clearly, that is their best out of state option given their location and conference. But if CU could even do half that in the next decade then it means we found some great players and sold them on Boulder just as McCartney and Barnett did in years past. Should be easier to do with an improved selection of road trips, yes? Just gotta show them they can win while wearing the black and gold too.

I don't think that recruiting New Mexico is the answer.

The Big XII is still crushing everyone else in Texas. Sort of surprising.
