Yep! Some of which may end up on the OL & DL lines someday.
Love the use of the word "perusing"...that's just awesome. Cinch that funky junk in the trunk, Sacky. You got some wind under wings bro.
For a guy who came in here and was grousing about recruiting gaps, having 7 freshman tight ends seems a little crazy.
Will they update the site tonight with new information regarding height/weight and bio's since the players are completing their physicals today?
Meh. Really not a big deal. Two of the freshman are redshirt freshman. The others are true freshman, two of them being walk-ons. At least one of the scholarship true freshmen will change positions. Sounds worse than it really it is.
I figured that a couple would be walk-ons, but still, seven scholarships devoted to tight ends? Does this offense even know that the tight end is an eligible receiver?
You would hope this is a sign that the TE will be used more in the offense. If they let athletes like Thornton, Evans, and Deehan go to waste, that's a shame.
If Hansen is given time to learn the offense and get comfortable, the TE should once again become a great weapon for our offense.
Sacky, this will make you feel better. They are projecting one of the TE's to move to HC.
This caught my eye while perusing the roster...
We need a team barber. Major is going to be real popular on those CU lookalike threads this year.
Sorry but bottomless tight end depth just sounds wrong to me.
I asked our DB coach about this at the recruiting luncheon and he said we took the best athletes available. The strength of the class was guys that are 6'3"-6'5", 225-240 pounds who can ran, jump, catch and hit you. He said you can't have too many of those guys. This bunch included the TE's, but also 2 RB's and a DE.
They are TE's today, but maybe Fullbacks, LB's, DE's and even DT's or Centers/OG's of the future. He also mentioned that two of them might end up as big WR's.
Solder was a TE.
Pericek was a TE.
As far as I'm concerned, there's two RS freshmen, 4 scholarship athletes with positions TBD (true freshmen), and a couple walkons that may or may not stick around. Great News!
Yeah. Move 'em to fullback!
I want to know why Sacky is obsessed with Tight ends.
Bottomless tight ends with depth. Hmmmmm.
tight ends or wide receivers? breast or thigh? the debates are endless.
Point of clarification - Pericek was NOT a TE. He was a LB that they briefly moved to TE, and then quickly to DT. He was an entirely average TE in high school, and his talents were always on the defensive side of the ball. Solder, at that size, should have never been a TE in high school.
It is a sign of a tough recruiting year where they took the best athletes we could. You do know this is DH's most athletic recruiting class?
If they truly are athletic this is a good strategy considering recruiting was so difficult.
This is not getting enough love...
Pardon me, but I prefer to recruit DEs for DEs, DTs for DTs, LBs for LBs, TEs for TEs, ect., ect. Of course, there are always exceptions (and many of them), but this talk that it's great news that we have 7 scholarship TEs (with some that will be moved) is a bit too optimistic.
are you connected with BHS?
kind of. I do the chains at BHS home games.
I am completely missing your point. Did BCS steal your password?
Point was a little bit of sarcasm and optimism.
