Point of clarification

We have been surviving for 10 years. If a guy that is in on us late due to the addition of DChev, you don't turn him down if he is much better than some of these guys who have no legit P5 offers.

We will not have to, that is the whole point. There is enough dead weight to be shed without resorting to several grayshirts.

If MMac gets fired this year, he's using up scholarships the next coach could have used for better players. Hopefully it won't come to that.

Are you saying ethics don't have a place in business? Ethics should matter everywhere. Outing a kid who is living up to his end of the deal is not good for anyone including the football team. Unethical treatment of the student athletes gets back to parents and HS coaches and it has long term negative effects on the program. By the same token, if they are freeloaders....get'em out.
I'm not saying that at all. I don't think it's unethical at all to give it to a kid straight. You help him find a place to go, some don't trust me. These guys get paid well to get wins, bowls, etc. This isn't nursery school. I see nothing wrong with it, coaches have families too. If they handle it correctly, I'm cool with it.

It's a little unethical to pull an offer this late in the process. If you give them time to find a new school I think it is okay but two weeks before signing day is not enough time.

Who said they haven't already talked to said attrition candidates? We just haven't heard yet, right?
