any word on what verbals/commits/prospects are saying about the coaching issue?

i know its not necessarily a big issue for some kids, if a new coaching staff has enough time to establish a relationship before LOI day and all. for some kids, it (coaching change) will be the difference maker and they will look elswhere.

not looking necessarily for specific player comments but, rather a general feeling about the mood of the kids on the issue. that is, if there is any info to go on.

    thanks.

For the most part, it hasn't mattered. The only guy who has wavered a bit and may want to look around due to the bad season & coaching uncertainty is Spond.

If anything, a new coaching staff is actually a stronger guarantee that it will be an open competition at every position. And what we've been selling in recruiting is an opportunity to play early in the Big 12.

That said, I do think it will hurt if Hagan isn't retained. Half our commits are his.

Cabral's got a few guys kind of playing wait and see (and may be silent commits).

Ambrose brought in the Louisiana guys, but their high school coach is related to Bieniemy (cousin or something), so we had a definite pro-Colorado "in" with that program from the start.

Truly, a lot of guys are involved in their own high school playoffs and being active in all the activities of their senior years. Some are following our coaching saga breathlessly, but most are back to being high school kids at an exciting time.

Until any changes are announced, most aren't going to weigh in. Besides which, if they say something taken the wrong way, it might hurt their relationship with Hawkins (or a new coach) so I would hope most are "coached" to not comment on the situation.

If Hawkins is ****canned, I expect to lose some of our current commits.

I hope that the Buffs are able to keep the QB commit from CA. Big numbers and sounds very smart.

Hirschman has been very solid about CU.

I think that will depend on who is hired to replace him. Get the right man, we may not lose anyone.

Once some of these kids committed, their other option schools moved forward and offered other players. Only the top percentage of players can jump around during their recruitment. For some, they've made a choice, and they will stick with it.
    Flatirons aren't going anywhere.
The teammates they've met will be there in the fall.
    I don't expect a lot of jumps.

Looking at Scout.com and our current list of verbals, I don't see a coaching change making any difference. With exception of 2-3 kids, we can fill with equal talent on anyone else that might change their mind.

If anything it might help get some of the high rated kids that are verbals somewhere else to look at CU again.
