Colorado had recruited him heavily out of high school and there was some talk that he'd transfer from USC at the beginning of the fall semester after he was beat out for the QB1 job (and before he lost a year of eligibility). Since Corp has already redshirted, if he transfers to a D1A program now he will sit out a year and then have 1 year of eligibility. If he transfers to D1-AA or below, he'll be able to play right away and get 2 years on the field. Frankly, based on how he played this year when he did get on the field, I really don't care if he does go to Kansas (the only finalist we face in 2011 barring a bowl matchup).

Here's the blurb from ESPN Rumors:

Four schools in play for QB Corp?

ESPN.com's Greg Biggins reported yesterday that USC has released former starting QB Aaron Corp (though Corp hurt his leg and never actually started a game) from his scholarship to allow him to transfer, and that Kansas, Virginia, Minnesota and Richmond have received a copy of the release and are interested in acquiring his services.

Corp's father, Chris, told Michael Lev of the Orange County Register, "There have been no decisions made. None," but acknowledged that he and Aaron have discussed the possibility of a transfer. Chris Corp also added that Aaron is enrolled in classes at USC that begin on Monday. (Maybe he wants to go the Matt Cassel route?)

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the writing on the wall. Starter Matt Barkley has three more years of eligibility. By the end of the season, Corp had fallen to third-string behind Mitch Mustain, who has another year remaining if he stays in school. And four-star recruit Jesse Scroggins, No. 56 on the ESPNU 150, will arrive on campus this weekend.

Whether SoCal native Corp would want to transfer so far from home is another question, but certainly he'd walk into good situations at Kansas, Virginia and Minnesota, all of which are unsettled at QB for one reason or another.

I agree, at this point for him 2 years as opposed to 1 will seem that much more appealing. Plus Richmond is a decent FCS school so he could still get some looks.

Kinda feel sorry for the young man. Seems like he didn't get much of a chance to play when he returned from the injury -- serious short-leash syndrome.

The downfall of getting injured and losing the QB battle at USC. You'd think opposing coaches could recruit against USC using this example, for QBs at least.

Downfall of playing at USC, period. So much talent that you might not get a fair shake, or if you get hurt may never see the field again. That's how it goes at places like USC, UT, Florida, etc.

To which Pete Carroll would respond: "If you come play QB at USC, you will be a millionaire when you leave here...even if you never start (see: Matt Cassel)."
