A couple of questions about buy-outs.

    1. If CU hires a HC from another school and is forced to pay a buy-out, who pays the buy-out? CU? The new Head Coach?
    2. Is the buy-out paid in one lump sum, or can it be amortized over a 5-10 year period?
    3. Is the buy-out always " as advertised" or is their some wiggle room.
    4. When Neu went to Washington, did CU receive some compensation from the Huskies?
    5. Did CU pay Boise a buy-out when Hawkins was hired and if so, how much did CU fork over?

"Buy-outs" from coaches to existing schools are the responsibility of that coach.

Of course, that coach would use the new schools interest as leverage to get them to pay it off.

In regards to 2-3, it depends. Every coaches contract is written differently and open to negotiation.

    Note sure on 4.

I think that there was a buyout in Hawk's Boise contract, not much IIRC. I think it was less than a $1 million or so.

    Not necessarily about Miles.

I was reading something over on another board regarding Minn coach search. All of their candidates are under contract with other teams.
Financially, I think Minnesota is in the same league as CU. If they ( Minnesota ) are willing to pay a buy-out to land their new coach, I wonder how much CU would be willing to pay.

    1. The coach would technically pay the buyout. Realistically, he'd pay it with CU's money.
    2. Contract dependent and possibly subject to negotiation.
    3. See #2.
    4. I don't remember if someone took out our garbage and paid us to do it.
    5. I remember a small buyout that had to be paid to Boise State (well under a million dollars, so kind of irrelevant).

    Edit: Scotty types fast.

Scotty is pissed about watching the Donkeys do their best "looks-like-Dan-Hawkins-found-a-new-job" impression.

Isn't that the truth...30 to 13. I would say this combined with the spygate could at least hasten the exit of McD. We can only hope

I would rather he mess up the Broncos than CU taking the chance with him.
