We talked about race issues a lot. i wanted to be a sociologist at the time so i was very inquisitive. I asked him if I was allowed to sing along to rap songs that use the N-word and he said that was fine. I think shaggybevo had a whole thread on this once. I asked him if he wished that black people had a similar word to the N-word to call us in bad situations. He said "oh we have a word alright." I said cracker and whitey don't count but he just smirked and laughed. A bit later we were drunk at a party and he asked me if I wanted to know his word for white people that carries a similar effect to the N-word. I of course said yes. He then told me that the only word that can come close (he still doesn't think it is equal just close) is racist. He told me there is no way to defend against a black person calling someone racist. And any attempt will just make you sound racist. Obviously this is just one guy's opinion but from my life experiences he was dead on. I'm not saying it is the same thing but calling someone racist can have some devastating effects.
