Ran into Malcom Creer today

JE was hired because of 1 thing and 1 thing only. He was cheap. CU was in a huge cash crunch from changing conferences, less than capacity crowds and non-existent licensing royalties due to sucking for 5 years. JE was under qualified, but jumped at his dream job and the low salary compared to other conference head coaches. CU needed someone to fill the position long enough for more money to become available for a better coach. If he worked out, it was the luckiest coaching hire in history. If not, a cheap place holder.

???
Could have hired Cabral for the same money; he even applied/interviewed for the job. And Cabral had HC experience, current knowledge of how the college game is being played and more inside scoop on the issues with CU. If anything WB benefited from a little AA bend in his favor.

Main reason WB was hired is due to B4L pressure on Bohn.

The idea that JE would not have been fired had he been white is absolutely preposterous. Did anybody who makes a statement like that actually watch this team last year? Any coach who puts out a product like that would be fired, regardless of race. It's absurd to think otherwise. And since it's not something that could be proven in any event, it's a ridiculous argument to make.

Embree was a terrible head football coach. He was not qualified to be a head football coach. That didn't keep him from applying, and it didn't keep Bohn from hiring him. Frankly, Embree's failures are as much on the heads of DiStephano and Bohn as they are on his. He never should have been hired in the first place. Firing him after two years was probably the best thing that could have happened. He was horrible. He can now go and be the best tight ends coach in the NFL, and maybe someday become an offensive coordinator. That's probably his ceiling. And let's be honest, that's not a bad place to be.

From your coded language about "the race card" or whatever other privileged expression, it's pretty clear that none of you have had to deal with the persistent, subtle racism that pervades the CU campus. You probably think that CU is not racist because many folks in the university community are politically liberal. The only problem is that these same people are particularly conservative in their interpersonal dealings.

By the time CU 1) fired Hawk, 2) paid to get out of the B12, and 3) figured out there would be no conference TV money for a couple of years; the CU AD was in a big financial hole. Benson & DiStephano needed someone cheap as HC. Qualified HC candidates were avoiding the CU job like the plauge. Also, since Hawk trashed every CU tradition he could find, a HC with strong CU ties would be appealing.

Hello Jon Embree. Bruce & Phil told Bohn to hire Embree and Embree was basically set up to fail. And fail he did because he wasn't qualified and turned in an epic 1-11 season. He was fired because he was a lousy HC, no other reason. It was monumentally stupid to have the press conference when they did so soon after the deed when Embree was still very emotional. It was Mac the Elder who really played the race card. Jon Embree got jobbed and doesn't owe anyone here an apology. That guy started the purge of all things Hawk. No doubt he loves the guys he coached and hopes to see them do well.

Oh by the way, Glad to see Malcom doing well and hope he becomes a player for us.

Couldn't agree more. Last year's team seemed to set new records for incompetence every week.

In over 100 seasons, has anything been worse than having Fresno St show mercy on us in the 1st quarter?
