This is hard to do after 1 week as a lot of the teams played cream puffs and are really not tested. I think OU and Mizzou are clearly the best in the confrence with Texas a close third. My #4-9 could be mixed up anyway right now. Some wont agree with mine.

    1. Mizzou. Beat Illinois 52-42. The offense could be the best in the country, defense did allow 42 though.

    2. Oklahoma. Beat Chattanooga 57-2. Laid half hundred by halftime, but not much of a test. They will be an elite team once again.

    3. Texas. Beat Florida Atlantic 52-10. Did what they were supposed to do.

    4. Oklahoma St. Beat Washington St. 39-13. Impressive road perfomance.

    5. Colorado. Beat CSU 38-17. More than covered spread vs. a rival.

    6. Texas Tech. Beat E. Washington 49-24. Defense struggled.

    7. Kansas. Beat Florida International 40-10. Big test will come in two weeks at S. Florida.

    8. Nebraska. Beat Western Michigan 47-24. Good start for Bo, but skers also blew out Nevada in opener last year.

    9. Kansas St. Beat North Texas 45-6. Kitties lok to start 4-0 off cream puff schedule.

    10. Iowa St. Beat South Dakota St. 44-17. Will be at bottom of north again.

    11. Baylor. Lost to Wake Forest 13-41. Loooks to be more os same in Waco.

    12. Texas A$M. Lost to Arkansas St 14-18. Bad opener for Sherman.

I don't know about the Buffs being better than Tech and Kansas. We will have to see about that one. I think Tech has got to be 4. Oklahoma State is very unproven and they beat a very bad Pac 10 team maybe worse than CSU.

Like I said, this is my opinion, but I was not impressed with Tech, and I just think Kansas is not as good as they were last year. CU beat an in-state rival convicingly (something they haven't done since 2001). That is why I have CU ahead of Tech and KU. About OSU, I really like their QB, I think OSU is gonna be a surprise this year.

I think we are going to have some trouble with EWU too like Tech did. They will air it out and we have less than stellar CB's so it might be a shoot out. I think we will win but if we play Tech, I have a feeling they torch our corners minus Terrence Wheatley.

CU did beat Tech the last two years.. though that doesn't mean much for this season.

:yeahthat: Tech's defense is an ebarassment. And we are way better than KU.

I am glad we don't play Tech and luckily we will see about KU in a few weeks

CU is 3/4 in the Big 12, not sure which yet.

OSU beating WSU means nothing. The only team in the Pac 10 worse than WSU is UW. They should easily be the #9th and 10th teams in the Pac (WSU is rebuilding with a first year coach).

We'd handle tech like we did last year. And KU didn't exactly come in and dominate us. We needed the offensive weapons to step up last year. We have them this year. It's going to be a asskicking.

I didn't realize that WashSt lost 7-8 schollies. Not sure how many per year. Announcers were talking about walkons and lack of depth. I think Okie lite comes back to earth once conference play starts.

    1. Mizzou- Offense looked great against a pretty good Illini team. Defense, specifically the secondary, looked awful. They gave up several huge passes and 5 touchdowns, 4 of them over 20 yards. They better improve a lot before they come play in the pass-happy Big 12.

    2. OU- Did what they were supposed to do aginst a weak team.

    3. Texas- Florida Atlantic is not a bad team and Texas just took it to them, unlike their opener last year against Arkansas St.

    4. CU- Although there are several areas that need improvement, Hawkins showed that he really is the leader of this team and a very capable QB. Running backs looked pretty good and once Scott gets his plays down, he will be a monster.

    5. Tech- Harrell had 536 passing yards but only 2 tds. Defense allowed an incredibly weak Eastern Washington to score 24 points? Not impressed.

    6. NU- Gave up several long touchdown drives in the second half but the defense is worlds different from what it was last season. Run game is weak, but Joe Ganz is better than advertised.

    7. KU- Drops down big time since FIU is THE WORST team in div 1. They really only put up 40 on these guys? May not be the same potent offense we saw last year.

    8. OSU- Good road win, but WSU is baaaad this year so this is expected. Robinson is a great QB but you have to wonder how they'll stack up against the rest of the conference.

    9. KSU- They actually put some points on the board (unlike their spring game), but let's be real here, North Texas is awful. Louisville is terrible this season so KSU should end up undefeated going into conference play. Bet they're glad they ducked Fresno St. now, aren't they?

    10. ISU- Nice to see them win a game against a toughie like SDSU isn't it?

    11. Baylor- QB could cause some headaches for our lower tier teams but Baylor is still Baylor.

    12. aTm- Good god. What else is there to say? When you have a very veteran QB and RB's how do you manage to lose to Arkansas St? McGee and Goodson have to will their team to that victory. Says a lot about the atmosphere in College Station.

Some random info on our Big 12 North friends.

-ISU's defense gave up 350 yards to South Dakota St.

-Mizzou surrendered 532 yards to Illinois. 451 of those yards came through the air:wow:

    -Mizzou's J Maclin is awesome. 234 all-purpose yards.

    - KSU's Aubrey Quarles(Grandview HS) had 6 rec. for 57yds.

-Freeman had 5 total TD's in the game. 3 passing, and 2 more rushing(1, 8).

-Nebraska won its season opener for the 23rd straight year. It's the longest streak in the nation.

-Although kNU's Blackshirt D held WMU to only 8 rushing yards, they posted 342 yards on kNU through the air.

    -J Ganz tossed 4TD's and 2picks. 20/36 345

-The "best RB in the conference" Marlon Lucky put up some pedestrian numbers against a very pedestrian team. 12carries for 43 yards(3.6ypc). Soph. Roy Helu had 7 carries for 52yds(7.4ypc)

-Western Michigan posted 3 80 yard drives (all resulting in TD's) against the "Blackshirts".

-KU's Reesing threw the ball 52 times. (37/52 256yds 3tds) Their running game is very suspect imo.

-Kansas limited FIU(1-11LY) to only 139 total yards.

-The most impressive stat was the 52,112(a record for 88-year-old Memorial Stadium) who showed up to the game.

OU & Texas have to be 1 & 2. The number 1 team in the conference doesn't give up 42 points.

If you are talking about the best offense- hands down that is Missouri.

But they gave up a bunch of yards and a bunch of points. I'm not sure they'll be able to win the conference if they can't get that straightened out.

    Defense wins championships.

TERRIBLE DEFENSE...not to mention Tech's struggles in the same category...It will be hard for Missouri or the PinkShirts to win a lot of games with performances like this no matter how good their offense is

After thinking about it more, I would have to agree with you. At first I was in awe of Mizzou's offense, but that defense needs improvement if they want to win the Big 12.

I didn't see the MU/ILL game, but keep in mind that Illinois went to a BCS bowl last year. They aren't crap.

Which one? I think every team in the Big XII outside of Colorado plays in a stadium call Memorial.

Yes I know, but Juice Williams is not Joe Montana and thats what he looked like against Mizzou. He torched that secondary. I watched the game BTW, it was a good one, probably the best on Tv this weekend. Mizzou definatly has questions with their passing D. I would rate CU's passing D better than Mizzou's right now.

as you mentioned, the actual rank is tough to determine so early, but good post/points... I agree that the top 2 are OU/TU... after that there are a lot of question marks to iron out over the weeks that lead up to conference play
