Polk has gone through surgeries on both shoulders, plus something relating to sleep apnia. The guy has been under the knife alot recently.

I can't wait to see Polk play, so long as he's 100% ready. Taking a RS year worked out and I'm expecting big things from Polk over the next four years. I'm scaling back expectations, though, for fall camp and OOC play.

Realistically, this is the year Polk gets his feet wet at the position. He'll see some playing time and hopefully some of it is meaningful playing time in game situations. Next Spring is probably when he makes a legit run at a starting spot though.

Was at practice on Saturday and he impressed me as well. Looked great in 7 on 7s.

It's vital that Polk gets up to speed. He doesn't need to challenge for a starting job this year, but he does need to be the first guy off the bench if there's an injury (even if it's just to sub in for a series). Sandersfeld would be a liability against the more athletic teams on the schedule, imo.

Respectfully disagree; his dad is a former DB, think there might have been a few pointers exchanged, once the switch was confirmed???

I'd be surprised if he doesn't start at some point early in the season. Its not as if he has to beat out two heavily-experienced guys, even though I really like both those Colorado kids, Mahnke and Perkins. With Polk's combo of speed and size he could line up as a "monster back/LB/nickle back" just to disrupt the offense.

As Greg Brown's dad, Irv, points out "Speed never has an off-day" and Polk is fast !

Particularly when we get into the conference schedule, Polk will be very important. We need speed guys in the secondary. I, for one, am very excited to see what Ray can do on the field.

Never thought I'd see the day I could say this, but the Buffs don't really need the help at corner. :thumbsup:They need it at safety.
