Add a third possible date to the reported "deadline" faced by Nebraska and Missouri to commit to the Big 12.

Vahe Gregorian of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Missouri now faces a June 17 deadline to pledge loyalty. He also writes that Missouri is uncertain of what tangible consequences could come with silence through the June 17 deadline.

As I wrote last week, my guess is the South makes its move to the West, unwilling to wait on the Tigers and Huskers.

Gregorian writes:
It is not believed, for instance, that the Big 12 has the power or inclination to cast out Mizzou should the school decline to pledge to stay.
Missouri's board of regents, who would have to OK any decision to switch conferences, are scheduled to meet on Thursday and Friday, but the agenda has not been made public, and the university advised the media that no comments would be made by the school.

Meanwhile, in the Rockies, Colorado's Board of Regents will hold a "secret" meeting tonight, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.

Of course, considering I'm writing this before the meeting takes place and live over 1,000 miles away, "secret" seems like a woefully inaccurate adjective at this point.

The Camera's Brittany Anas says the board is meeting to discuss a specific legal matter, and she reports it will be regarding legal advice for a move from the Big 12 to the Pac-10.

She writes:

The university doesn't anticipate any formal action to result from the discussion about a possible league switch for the Boulder campus' NCAA teams.

There will be no public participation and the meeting will take place behind closed doors.
Don't expect expansion talks to cool for at least a few weeks, and reports like these could continue to come.
