Recruits vs NFL Elite: Do stars really mean that much?

This thread actually reminds me of how I learned not to feign interest in pop culture as a means of starting conversations with my wife. Me: "Hey Honey, did you hear that Bruce Jenner wants to cut his dick off and be a chick?" The Wife: "OMG, that news is like 3 months old. Get with the program!"
 
It is not so much that the conversation keeps coming up, but rather that the media members writing these stories do not quite understand recruiting rankings (blanketing all 3* players as the same is very lazy) or they somehow act mildly surprised when the recruiting rankings are largely reinforced.
 
They have a horny bowl? Well they have every other damn bowl so that wouldn't surprise me. How come Flo from progressive doesn't a bowl yet? I've seen her become Mutombo all the sudden.

That writer sucks. He describe guys with 0 stars as being rated, and then he goes on to say there are more three and two star players. But you can group 3 star with any other group and say there are more. Idot.
