If you do a Google search for "Richt" this morning, several good articles about GA and the game come up.

The Buffs need every advantage they can possibly get, so why not go 'no huddle' as much as possible, keep them running and hope the altitude gets to them

    Go Buffs!

+2 Probably too obvious for our coaches. We will probably try to slow the game down.

Hawk gave his famous quote yesterday when a reporter pretty much asked the same question....so I guess "we'll see"

I think we should start in the No Huddle and gets UGA's lungs burning right off the bat.

Well, see, you guys don't know anything about football. This isn't Hawks first rodeo. He knows what he's doing. His record speaks for itself, doesn't it? I mean, it's one of those kinds of deals where you have to take in everything, put it in a bowl, mix it up, and see what comes out. That's what he tells his guys all the time. It's not so simple to just say we're going to go no-huddle. I guess for some folks who never take any risks in their life, the no-huddle "solution" makes sense, but there's a reason those folks are in the stands.

To run the no huddle effectively and wear out opposing defenses you need to be able to sustain drives... that's easy against a team that give up 5.5YPC, like say, Hawaii... even at 1-3 UGA is only giving up 1.8 YPC on the ground which will make long drives much more difficult... If they can't sustain a drive, (which through penalties and mistakes is highly likely) it'll hurt our own defense more than UGAs.

    You must be forgetting,

that with 2 sure NFL prospects, our OL has to be among the best in the country, so we should be up around 4 yds per pop.

Seriously, if the OL gags again, then Denver J should be fired before the team enters the lockeroom.

    Go Buffs

so you are saying we shouldn't even try? I don't think it would hurt and our guys supposedly know the offense now. Hell just let Hansen call the plays, it can't get much worse.

They have to try. Getting up on UGA early will be the key to the game.

Georgia has a bad habit of getting behind early this year. So does CU. Whichever team breaks that trend probably wins. Fragile confidence on both sides, it seems.

I like the no huddle, but I don't know if I'd come out in it. I kind of like having it in our back pocket if we need a shot in the arm.

I read in today's Post that Richt grew up, in part, in Broomfield. According to his Wiki page, he grew up a Husker fan, but ended up playing QB at Miami, where he backed up Jim Kelly.

    Interesting.

The idea of a no huddle offense is a good one. I like it. The problem is that the team needs to be really well coached with all the players on the same page or they just end up making more mistakes/penaties and the O just moves backwards.

With our O and how many miscues we have even when we have a huddle, I don't think it's a good idea to throw them into the deep end by asking them to go no huddle. We will end up helping UGA more than hurting them.

Damn Broomfield must have been only 5 farmhouses back in those days. I think the majority of that town is less than 20 years old.

The advantage of the no huddle is that it gives the defense issues with making personnel changes for the down and distance. Usually it is not taking more time off the clock than going into the huddle unless you are in a hurry up. Usually you rush to the LOS but take your time before you initiate the play. You force the defense to stay in a base and go away from stunts.

Georgia has seen the no huddle before and will be prepared. Whichever team executes better will come out ahead.

Regarding the no-huddle, the cat is out of the bag since we ran it against HI. So UGA will be prepared for it, the question is whether they will be conditioned for it.

no to mention we ran 1 running play over and over and over. This team is no 2001 buffalo team. They can't expect the same play to work over and over again against UGA.

While I agree with you to some extent, I think they actually do need to run right at them and make them prove they can stop it. I'd try to run a lot of plays and attack them between the tackles. And I'd stick with it at least for awhile. The ol are allegedly a strength so let's use it.

The 01 team had two NFL ol plus an NFL rb and te. If we really do have 2 NFL ol now then we ought to be able to get at least a part of the same type of success running now.

They also had a kick-ass fullback. We could use a little Alaskan Assasin these days. Hell, we could use a fullback these days.

Not that this is a direct Hawkins quote, but it might as well be. And not to get political, but does anyone else notice the similarity w/ how 'W' talks. The same all over the map, wtf was that I just heard kind of stuff that just makes your head spin.

Or we could pull out what we used against Cal: The No Hustle offense.
