Rumor has it -- Calhoun

Then maybe you need to be more careful about what you swallow. I'd start by cutting back on crap rumors.

Right now we have NOTHING that says Bohn has fixated on Calhoun except a bunch of rumors, all of which are coming from basically the same source - a group with a known anti-Bohn, pro EB agenda. Maybe they've learned some inside info this time and are playing it straight, but by far the simplest explanation is that these rumors amount to nothing more than the "scoop" from the same source the night of the KU game that Bohn was keeping Hawk all season. Whatever portrays Bohn in the worst possible light, these guys post "scoop" that it's happening in order to try to whip up some kind of fan backlash frenzy against Bohn and try to push the coaching search in the direction they want.

I put all this in exactly the same category I put the Les Miles and Bohn to KU rumors in. RUMORS. And at least BCS is up front about his attention whoring agenda..... :smile2:
Harvest House on netbuffs said the similar things re: Bohn being fixated on Calhoun- said last week Bohn was trying to sell McElwain to donors..... now this week he's selling Calhoun...

FWIW- Harvest House seems to have had good scoop in the past-

So last week it was McElwain, this Week its Calhoun, next week it will be someone .... Mike's probably testing the waters to see who gets the best response, that will be part of the hire. AZ should stop freaking out and having his proxies run around with their heads cut off. Honestly give how much teh AD dislikes him it is probably working against EB on some levels that he is pushing so hard to discredit anyone but him.

Anyone who thinks Calhoun is the next Hawkins isn't a very good judge of character. Calhoun will be accountable and I can pretty much guarantee his teams will play with more discipline (fewer penalties). I doubt that he'll bring the option, but he'll appreciate the run game. Sounds good to me. What he lacks is a big personality. I think he could recruit the heck out of TX, but may get overshadowed by Kiffin, Slick, Kelly etc. out west....

Whew. Thank God. I have the personal guarantee of "class01." I can rest easy now.

F**k that, enough of the choir boy crap - have an identity and win some damn football games.

Nice rebuttle. Way to jump on a turn of phrase that actually has nothing to do with the point I was trying to make. And if I were you, I wouldn't rest easy, I'd be busting my ass trying to figure out a way to get the hell out of Oklahoma "Al Pachino wannabe".

So break out the hookers and fake summer jobs? Calhoun has an identity. He just isn't "Hollywood". Discipline wins football games. I'm not saying he's the best candidate, but if we can't get Bellotti or won't take Mac, I like him better than a lot of the other names I've heard.

Yeah, that's not what I said at all, but you take Calhoun - I'll take the field thank you.

Tomorrow it will be someone else. Bohn and the search party know calhoun isn't the big name cu needs. Calhoun is fine where he's at.

I think you nailed it.

Actually, if you're a player, you're the one that might have to take Calhoun. Btw, the Arnold pic and inability to constuct a logical argument isn't doing much for stereotypes.

by "take the field" I think he meant that he'll take ALL the other coaches.

Here in Utah on sports radio they blamed Calhoun for exposing the Ute pass defense that led to TCU and Notre Dame wins this month. Said Air Force exposed Coach W like no one and Ute D has been reeling since.

Air Force only completed 8 passes. If they were exposed on 8 passes they have serious problems.

ughh...so I had a fever of 103 last night and have had walking pneumonia for some weeks now...so I went to bed a little loopy I guess.

From about 1-3 am, I kept waking up with this recurring nightmare that the search committee had selected Calhoun as their choice...I was really annoyed and sad...

I simply do not understand the dislike of Calhoun for HC. He is more that qualified. He has been a coordinator at a high level. Calhoun is also an impressive guy in person.

Here is an article from this mornings Post.

I hope it is still okay to post a link.

My number one concern with Calhoun is recruiting but according to people who know he is good at it.

I could certainly get behind a Calhoun hire.

posting links from the post is fine. Pictures/full articles not so much

It appears the Calhoun crowd is getting defensive.

There's a Calhoun crowd??? Seems to me it's more the Calhoun lynch mob (sponsored by AZ) that keeps reaching farther and farther and farther trying to find **** to freak out about...

I just think CU can do better. Would Calhoun be a disaster? I don't think so. He'd definitely be an upgrade over Coach Flower Child. But you have to admit, CU is starting to look like the school that just picks the HC from the nearby smaller school . It is unfair to Calhoun, but the process looks very small time and like it or not, Calhoun would be the fourth straight HC selected under that Mickey Mouse appearing method.

Beyond that, Calhoun is just a vanilla pick. It would be like getting VIP passes to the Oscars, but having to escort Sarah Jessica Parker. You'd still go, but you wouldn't be that psyched about it.

I don't know, at my age I could get psyched escorted Sarah Jessica Parker to the Oscars as a VIP.

Just wondering are people worried about Calhoun bring the option run offence to Boulder? I think he has to run that soly based on the personel avalible to him. I dont think he ran that sort of offence at Ohio or Wake and definitely in Denver of Houston.

I would dispute that Calhoun had any role whatsoever in deciding what kind of offense was run at Denver (Shanahan) or Houston (Kubiak).

As for concerns -- I am concerned about his recruiting ability. He has coached and recruited for OHIO, WAKE FOREST, and AIR FORCE. He has absolutely no experience recruiting against the likes of USC, UCLA, California, Oregon, etc. I don't know if he has any recruiting ties whatsoever to ANYONE in California or Texas. He certainly has never shown that he has such ties.

I am also concerned about his coaching staff. Who is he going to bring with him? Right now, at Air Force, he has coaches who have been at such football factories as Ohio, Wake Forest (sounds familiar), Grand Valley State, Furman, Trinity Christian Academy (No offense meant, Rino), Ft. Hays State (Kansas), Emporia (Kansas), Wyoming, North Alabama, etc. A couple of his coaches are graduates of the Air Force Academy - perhaps there is some requirement that a certain number of coaches come from AFA. At least his strength and conditioning coach came from Iowa State and Notre Dame. In other words, the recruiting ability (and coaching ability) of Calhoun's current coaching staff is HIGHLY questionable. If Calhoun was hired by Colorado - who would he hire as assistant coaches?

BINGO !!!

I don't need AZ to convince me I don't want Calhoun as CU's next coach.
We all know that he's a quality Xs & Os coach but the fact that he has no proven recruiting ability and
his assistants are a big ?
Plus- yes his teams tend to beat teams they are supposed to but he really hasn't had too many 'quality' wins unless you
think Houston or a 3-9 Notre Dame squad qualifies.
Watch or listen to Calhoun in an interview. He seems like a nice guy but IMHO doesn't have a personality that's going to
grab the attention of a 17-18 yrs old.
