Since CU is opening the season in Hawaii in 2011 it gives the Buffs the flexibility of adding an additional game.
Should Bohn schedule an extra game and make some extra coin for the AD ?

I say yes but only if it's a home game and is played on a Saturday.
Granted ...with 2011 just around the corner I'd think the only type of team we would see would be
something along the lines of Weber St, N Dakota St...

    what say you ...

i guess the logical question would be to ask: who else does Hawaii play and therefore have the extra game? maybe they wanna come to Folsom? i'm looking at this through the lens of not playing a N. Dakota State or Western Illinois.....

i think you do almost whatever you can to play the game/make money given where the AD is right now, today. but, as a fan, a NDSU game is a yawner. hopefully.

Look for UNC or Webber State.

Looking at Hawaii's schedule, they get home games against CU, Oregon State and Cal-Davis. Since CU/Oregon State will probably be conference mates in 2011, that's a no go. Therefore, may be looking at a school like Cal Davis.

To me, if we're going to play a 1-AA school (or, excuse me, football championship subdivision school), we should play UNC. We'll draw 3-4k UNC fans, which is added $$$, plus it will generate a little more local interest than a Weber State, for example.

I believe UNC is already tied up with CSU for 2011 so you might have to throw them out. Montana makes sense since their fans have been great.

The WAC schools will have one extra OOC game due to BSU leaving for the MWC in 2011.

I may be the only one who doesn't know, but why would we have the option of scheduling an extra game?

Yes. If CU can schedule #13, they should.
Yes. The game should be in Boulder. Bonus for getting the game on TV. Double bonus for on TV on Saturday.

It would be also fine with me if CU collects a >$700K payday for a televised "one and done" in Lincoln or some other BCS venue. If CU wants to whore itself for television money, even against a marquee team, that's fine by me. Just make it in someplace worth visiting *cough*LSU*cough*

If no TV is involved and CU plays a mid-major or worse, then I would hope it would be some kind of regional tilt against a team from within the state. AFA would be awesome if it came with a home and home. I'd be perfectly happy with a home and no with N.Colorado, Mines, or CSU-Pueblo ahead of some unknown schools from Ohio, Louisiana, Illinois, Texas or elsewhere.

If you travel to hawai'i the ncaa allows you to schedule an extra game. It is an incentive to schedule hawai'i despite the costs to get there.

Thanks dply, we should definitely play another game, it would be a great financial boost, expecially if we end up with a 14 game season!

    I think you are miscounting:

    4+1 "bonus" preseason = 5 games
    5 division + 3 cross division = 8 games
    PAC 12 championship = 1 game
    National Championship = 1 game

    TOTAL: 15 GAMES

They are probably waiting to see what happens with the possibility of us joining in 2011, and the Pac-12 schedule of either 8 or 9 games. Then it would depend upon how many home games we get in a 9 game conference slate. If we only get 4, then we need to add a home game, if we have 5 then we would need a road game.

8 Big 12 games + Cal = 9 games (or 9 Pac-12 conference games if we go early).

    Fresno State

With the changes in the WAC and MWC lineups, there could be some opportunities opening up.

damn straight we schedule. Here is what we do:
    1. Offer to play the fuskers at their house, loudly and publicly.
    2. When they decline, Laugh and gloat and have Bohn release a statement saying he understands due to Nebraskas long tradition of scheduling high school teams to play against.
    3. Schedule some away game at a mid major on thursday night right after we play CSU.

This should be the annual game that replaces CSU. NU fans would travel to Mile High in force along with CU fans. Plus we would get good TV money for it, unlike having to play on Sunday to try and get someone to watch CU-CSU. Great suggestion.

The last thing we want is for Fusker lovers to pack Mile High. You know they would, too. Tickets would be split down the middle for each team, but would most likely end up with those douches having about 2/3 of the seats. That would piss me off to no end. I say screw 'em. Good riddance and don't let the door hit you in the ass after November.

so what is the problem, it would be a sellout, broadcast on national tv, and be a huge payday for both teams. I really don't see the downside.

The downside is having the Fusker fans take over a stadium 30 miles from Boulder by a 2-1 ratio. It'd be like a home game for those ****ers. It sucks bad enough when 10,000 of them invade Folsom. But even at that it's a 4-1 ratio for Buff fans. If it truly was 50/50 (or even close) then maybe. I can't stomach all the ****ing red when the game is in Colorado. Of course with that comes all the BS about how great they travel, how they're the best fans in the world, blah, blah, f'ing blah.

are you new to folsom field? I have been to every CU home game versus Nebraska since 1997 and it has usually been 40-60 (Nebraska versus CU) on good days and about 50-50 on the bad days. If you are worried about the Huskers invading Mile High BUY more tickets.

I also think a lot of more casual Buff fans would show up for the CU-NU game at Mile High. There is a general distate for Nebraskans that goes further than just football. I think CU would show well in that game. This would be a win-win for both programs in my opinion.
