Signs are pointing to Mac, IMO.

Mac has been campaigning for the job for the better part of the last six months. Bohn has said he's a viable, serious candidate. A Mac hire is a safe hire. Nobody is going to criticize Bohn for hiring Mac, but they certainly would if he were to hire somebody else who ultimately failed. The kicker for me is the pic we saw of Mac at the Valor/Ponderosa game a few weeks ago. What's he doing there? Well, it would seem obvious that he's there to connect with Berglund and/or Vickers. We get info yesterday that Berglund is 100% committed to CU still.

Coincidence? I don't believe in coincidences. At least not when it comes to this kind of thing. I suspect Berglund has been given some indication that Mac is the guy, which led him to re-affirming his commitment.

I have absolutely no inside information. I'm just reading the tea leaves and coming to a conclusion based on what I'm seeing. I suppose I could be wrong. It's happened once or twice before on rare occassions.

I agree. I just really hope that EB comes with him. It really sounds like the staff at Minnesota (vikings) is going to be fired so I'm sure that he will be available.

At least we know MAC wouldn't shaft Cabral, and that actually matters to me.

I would love to see him give Cabral at least a Co-DC title. Cabral has earned the right for the promotion with what he has given to the buffs...unless there is a very good reason to not do so.

Whoa, wait. How's that happen with the Vikes playing the Bears this weekend?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mac back here. Especially with Bohn's statement about the salary at the presser. In addition, none of the other candidates out there this year really seem like they would be a great hire IMO.

I hope things haven't moved along that quickly. That would probably mean Bohn hasn't even interviewed another candidate...Although, also tied in with Keisau's comment about being at CU next year it does make me think that maybe things are moving that quickly.

It won't. EB is not in town this weekend. The Vike's bye week was the UGA weekend and EB was honored at the end of the first qtr, and again with the rest of the 1990 team at halftime. While his induction to the HOF will be celebrated this week, EB won't be on hand to receive it.

I dunno...I'm still not really sure Mac is the way to go. The problem with Mac campaigning for the job and the former players very public "keep it in the family" campaign is that Bohn may be in a no-win situation if he picks anyone other than Mac or EB regardless of who he thinks he can actually get. Also, Bohn might make a vocal percentage of the Buff faithful happy, but be prepared to mocked in the national press and by other schools' fans...in fact its already started in stories mentioning that Mac is a candidate. Mac makes sense to a lot of Buff insiders, but from an external point of view, the idea of hiring a 70 year old coach who has been out of the game for 16 years seems like move of desperation, e.g. they don't have the money to get anybody good or everybody turned them down, the CU job is just not a good job, etc...

EB is in town TODAY for the Colorado Hall of Fame Induction according to CUbuffs.
Unless he is being inducted in absentia.

Well, if Mac/EB fail, we can't be nearly as mad as them as we would be with an outsider like Hawk. Right? Right??

These are my thoughts exactly. I've been seeing things already mocking CU for having Mac as a potential candidate.

Maybe somewhere in the article it says he'll be in town (I only skimmed it and couldn't find it), but your quote only says he'll be inducted and appreciates it, not that he'll be present.

I don't read that as saying he is colorado today. CJ and Klatt talked about this yesterday. They agreed - without any substantiation - that EB would not be here.

I want Mac actively involved in the program in some capacity. It would be great to have him working tirelessly to clear the path with the admin. He is such a great ambassador of our program and I can't get enough of hearing him speak.

I would accept his as HC but I want the best hire we can make right now and want to make sure we are looking at all options (if Bohn is capable of actually doing that). My problem with Mac as HC is the whole coach in waiting thing. I am not sold on it, and I am not sold on anyone in the "family" right now that would potentially fulfill a coach in waiting role...but that is just me.

I'm not going to debate the merits of hiring Mac. I'm merely pointing out that the signs, as I'm reading them, point in that direction.

Random internet rumors are stating that Mac is saying he is gonna make the AD an offer that "they can't refuse". Hrmm.

this comment is intriguing...the fact that EK feels like he'll be back makes me wonder if this has already been 'approved' by our next coach...the only future coach that would be in the position to make that 'decision' is one that has a 50 page plan with EK as OC as chapter 2....

i don't think signs are pointing to mac at all. bohn has been saying entirely the opposite on the radio. that he isn't looking to bring in a coach to mentor or groom anybody, that he is looking for somebody to come in and lead. i think it was vic that tweeted the other day that after having bohn on his radio show that mac didn't sound like option a, b or c.

Just remember that Bohn has been, and probably still is, engaged in an active disinformation campaign. Lots of Trial balloons have been going up, and lots more will. Bohn is NOT gonna announce anyone soon. He wants to end the season on a looking forward note, and the way to do that is to announce the new coach sometime after the kNU game.

    tweet from vic

After talking to Mike Bohn on the radio a few minutes ago, I get the feeling Coach Mac is not option A. Or B. Or C for that matter.

    I agree more with this.

It sounds to me like Bohn has been trying to downplay the idea of Mac coming back. While I think it makes a lot of sense both financially and from a coaching stand point, I'm starting to think it is very unlikely. If you are Bohn you have to think you are making yourself completely insignificant within the athletic department once McCartney is on campus.

I've read a lot about Mac's 50 page plan on this site. What exactly is it? Did Mac write something about how to get CU football back to the promised land? Was it recent?
