scout has an article about it--- it is pay content.

sipili talked to reporters after practice and said all the right things. i was pretty impressed, actually, from the report.

anyhow, i hope he gets it turned around. he vowed to do so and said he's learned from his mistake and that he takes fully responsibility.

you don't see that every day.

I hope he gets this mess behind him. He's going to be a great football player. It's great to be playing football but the first priority for this young man is recieving his degree. I know alot of people who would kill to have their son or daughter recieve a free college education. I hope he doesnt screw up the opportunity he has.

That's great to hear. Now as long as he can keep himself out of trouble going forward, he can get back to playing ball as soon as his suspension lifts (whenever that may be).

I'm sorry, but its easy to be "contrite." I don't buy it. You guys all buy it because you want him to be a "Buff." I'm sick of this ****. "Being a Buff" should be about class and doing the right thing. Not about being a dick head and then appologizing after the fact. Sometimes, you only get one chance, pal! The last thing CU needs is some ****head pounding a kid to a pulp and then saying "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it!" It'll take a lot more than an "I'm sorry" for me. I hate this ****!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, can't agree, DBT. Does your policy apply for every college kid that ****s up? I hope not, because they ALL do. Yeah, Sipili is going to have to prove that he's sincerely contrite about what happened. This isn't UNL where saying you're sorry is enough to forgive and forget anything. But the fact is that kids are going to screw up, and I really hope that in this case Sipili learns from his mistake. I'm encouraged that he has apologized. Hopefully it's for real...

Nobody is perfect. He deserves to be punished for his actions just like anyone else in any other program. But you don't turn your back on the kid when he makes one mistake. He is only what? 19 yrs old? can you remember some of the stupid **** you did at that age? And we don't and probably won't ever know the full story of what happened that night when he got into a fight. But he will be punished for it. As he should be.

Whats with all the negative posting? The rockies and fuentes and now your all over our buffs. You don't even know sipili and your slamming him. WTF?

DBT correctly points out that someone on the hook for a felony assault does not bring class to the school. I hate that, too.

Junction is correct that ALL college kids can be expected to get into some trouble, but it's not true that ALL college kids get arrested.

I hope Sipilli has a future at CU. I hope that he serves his suspension with continued dignity and class, and someday earns the opportunity to start in our defensive backfield again.

My heart goes out to the Hawaiian fraturnity at CU, Sipilli inlcuded. If this group stands together, this might work out okay for Sipilli's football career.

Also consider the guy Sip beat up. He could be running around with a titanium plate in his face, or some disfiguring scar for the rest of his life. No matter what Sipilli says after the fact, the beating he gave is now part of Sipilli's legacy at the university.

I apologize for the pointed remarks last night. I'm just so sick of negative stuff happening to the program. But, as a father of three, with two boys, I should know better than to think kids don't make stupid decisions.

DBT That's right! Being fathers and having been in situations as a college kid, **** can happen! Know knowing that there is alot more to this story I'll stay firm in saying that the kid does get one more chance. Perri should be shown the door!! Sipilli should get 2-3 game suspension. We all have heard the intell released what we don't know is..Well how big was the guy he beat up? Was he 5'11" a buck 80 or was he 6'4" 235? I think the size difference my play into the decision Hawk. As well as was the kid gorred by sipilli w/ several punches or was it 2-3 hard blows. When down did he stop? Or continue to look like a psycho?

I'll gladly give any Buff (or any other kid, for that matter) a second chance. but if he screws that up, see you later...

You say that now, because none of your kids are old enough to realy screw up more than twice. Methinks your outlook will change.

He still has the chance to make his legacy the one about the guy who beat up someone, changed, did tons of charity work, worked with underprivledged kids, worked for restitution of damages done, apologises and beocmes friends with the guy he beat up, ect.

He can still leave with a good legacy of someone who made a mistake and then made good.

Oh, my oldest defies me multiple times each day. But he's 4. Once they hit college age, two chances are all they get when it comes to something like this. Playing football is a privelege and if they can't stay out of trouble, then they don't get to play football.

If you keep screwing up (and I mean screwups like this - getting arrested kind of screwups), you lose your priveleges. My oldest loses priveleges (dessert, stories) probably 2-3 times per week. I hope he'll eventually get the picture.

Something about those 4 year olds. Mine defies me all of the time - it is a game right now - but I hope he comes around. Someday it won't be just about losing stories or going to his room. As much as he defies me, he mentions the lessons he learns to others but never me.

I hope this gets cleared up soon and the appropriate punishments are doled out for all involved. The football players AND other folks involved were all involved in being idiots IMHO.

Yep. It's in his hands now. If he is able to keep the coaches in his corner, his legacy could also include on the field accomplishments. He can contribute to a future bowl victory, and maybe even he could be the leading tackler on an Nat'l championship squad. Between now and then, he might want to stay away from bars, hand guns and drugs, cooperate with the courts, focus on grades, stay fit and help the team to the degree the suspension permits.

The opportunity to play CU football is a blessing. If he loves the game enough and can stay positive, there is no doubt he'll be able to put this unfortunate episode behind him.

Really...like he's speaking for himself. He's saying what he is told to say.

    His fists are lethal weapons.

I keep hoping that with my 12-year-old, too. I guess that's all we really can hope for as parents.

This is what will change my opinion of him now. I think his second chance should come only after he has plotted out a map of the charity/community work and has a track record of sticking to that map. I also think that the road map needs to continue through out his Colorado career and his adhering to it is a requirement for remaining on the team and at the University.

I tend to agree with DBT, that it is too easy to proclaim contrition, I want to see a marked change in the man not the words.
