The women's soccer team (12-3-1, 4-2-1) will be hosting their final home game of the season when they face #2 UCLA (13-1-2, 5-1-2) at noon today. UCLA is on an 11 game unbeaten streak, while the Buffs are undefeated in their last 3 games. It's Senior Day and you can watch the match on the Pac-12 Network, if you are a subscriber. Here is a preview from cubuffs.com:

COLORADO VS. UCLA: UCLA leads the series 4-1, with three of the Bruins victories happening on their home turf. The Buffs and Bruins met twice in 2005, with UCLA knocking CU out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round. The Buffs got their revenge in 2010, upsetting the No. 12 Bruins at Prentup Field. The Buffs grabbed seven saves (five by Annie Brunner) as the teams each took 12 shots and forced a scoreless game into double overtime. In the 108th minute, Lizzy Herzl hit the game-winner to put the Buffs up 1-0. The Buffs struggled in their first season of Pac-12 play, falling 8-0 at Prentup, their largest margin of defeat to date in the Pac-12. Last season, Bianca Jones helped the Buffs get on the board at the 85 minute mark as the Buffs fell 2-1 to the No. 3 Bruins in L.A. UCLA has been ranked in each of its meetings with the Buffs. Its No. 2 ranking this season is the highest they’ve had entering a match-up with CU.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS:
The Bruins have fallen just once this season and hold a 10 game unbeaten streak for a 13-1-1 overall, 5-0-1 Pac-12 record. At the beginning of their season, the Bruins faced four consecutive ranked opponents, claiming wins over No. 20 Marquette, No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 12 Duke. UCLA’s lone loss was a 1-0 defeat to the defending NCAA Champions, top ranked North Carolina. On their latest unbeaten streak, the Bruins have tied Washington 0-0, taken down No. 5 Stanford 2-1 in double overtime and beaten No. 8 California 1-0. Last weekend, the Bruins shut out Arizona State 3-0. UCLA has a solid attack, with 12 players netting goals, led by freshman Darian Jenkins. Sophomore Taylor Smith and juniors Sarah Killion and Caprice Dydasco each have contributed at least five assists apiece. UCLA also boasts one of the nation’s best goalkeepers, junior Katelyn Rowland. Her 0.34 goals-against average stands atop the national standings. The Bruins’ shutout and save percentages are also in the nation’s top seven.

This would be a huge game for the program with a win.

Under 10 minutes remaining and it's looking like the Buffs will fall short of beating UCLA.

It's over. Buffs fall short of beating #2 UCLA 1-0. I was only falling by the stats, but it looked like they fought hard and losing this match by one goal is nothing to be ashamed of.

The Buffs may have lost by only one goal, but it wasn't close. UCLA is a league of their own. It's amazing the Buffs didn't give up three or four goals in the match. UCLA looked like the Japanese women's national team with their possession and ability to create repeated chances on goal with outstanding movement of the ball between players or one-on-one. And UCLA was also bigger and quicker to the ball all of which really limited the Buffs chances.

CU still has a good shot at the NCAA tourney, but they need to get at least one win in Arizona and maybe two.

I agree. I watched about half the game and UCLA was far superior in their ball handling, posession and creating scoring opportunities. They also seemed to have a lot more speed than CU did. I was very surprised to see we only lost 1-0.

CU is improving for sure but after watching that game you could see how far we still have to go.

We're trying to make the tournament. UCLA is expecting to win it.
