The women's soccer team (6-2-0) is back in action today at 1pm when they face their final opponent in the Omni Classic, the San Francisco Dons (4-3-2). This will be the Buffs’ first time facing the Dons since 2008 and fourth time overall. In their last meeting, CU defeated San Francisco 4-1 at home. The Dons are 1-1 in Boulder and hold a 2-1 advantage in the series. After this match, the conference portion of the season begins next Saturday, when the Buffs host Cal.

San Francisco’s trip to CU will be the Dons’ second of five straight matches on the road. San Francisco is unbeaten in its last three matches and are coming off a 1-1 tie against San Jose State. Freshman Sonja Giraud leads the team with 17 shots and three Dons have each tallied two goals this season. San Francisco has only allowed six goals this year and have shut out its opponents four times. The Dons are 3-2 in five matches on the road and 4-2-2 overall.

Family and friends can enjoy face-painting before the Buffs take the field, and immediately following the match the CU soccer team will host an autograph session.

I have a lot of things to do today, so updates will probably be limited.

GGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kahlia Hogg with the goal 3:56 into the match to give the Buffs a 1-0 lead

A few halftime stats. CU leads USF 9-3 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks

GGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brie Hooks makes it 2-0 Buffs

Lots of back and forth here at Prentup, possession changing consistently. CU continues to lead 2-0 with 15 minutes to play

GGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emily Paxton gives the Buffs a 3-0 lead

Watching the last 30 minutes or so, Brie Hooks was clearly the best attacking player on the pitch. When she has the ball out her feet she is poised, in control and has excellent vision. She is able to get the ball to the right player at the right time more consistently than other player. It would seem that her ability to combine with Hogg and Paxton will be critical to the Buffs chances of scoring goals in Pac 12 play.

San Francisco really was no threat until CU scored their third goal. At that point it seemed that San Francisco relaxed and was able to get some good shots on goal. But it really wouldn't have mattered in the final result.

Cal is up next, which is tough enough, but that match is followed by five consecutive road games.
