Spirit Teams Head To Orlando For National Championships

ORLANDO—The University of Colorado spirit squads, the Dance team, Cheerleaders and Chip, are headed to Orlando’s Wide World of Sports this weekend for the Universal Cheerleaders Association and Universal Dance Association National Championships.

This is the first time all three squads will be performing at the same national championship. In the past, the cheerleaders have taken part in the National Cheerleaders Association championships in April. The Dance team and Chip have taken part in the UDA competition the last several years.

“We have a travel party of 50 headed to Florida,” CU Dance coach Katie Fear said. “It will be nice to have everybody in the same place; we’ve never had the extra support of the cheer squads being with us in the past like a lot of other teams. And we will be able to see them perform and support them, as well.”
