This scrimmage seems to be a cleverly disguised #1’s vs #2’s with a few exceptions. I have set up and looked at the line-up, and on the offensive side of this Cody gets the #2’s except for LT & TE. I am assuming that was done to keep Cody from getting killed from the blind side. Cody has 1 scholarship WR to throw to. I did a sort of breakdown of starters and back-ups for each team. I am going to guess that the success of the gold team will determine whether or not people think the offense will have a chance next season:

    Gold Team
QB - Tyler Hansen Nick Hirschman
RB - Brian Lockridge Corey Neighbors
WR1 - Toney Clemons Jarrod Darden
WR2 - Andre Simmons Markques Simas
Slot - Kendrick Celestine Jason Espinoza
TE - DeVaughn Thornton Luke Walters
RT - David Bakhtiari Sione Tau
    RG - Blake Behrens
    C - Keenan Stevens
LG - Eric Richter Gus Handler
    LT - Ryan Dannewitz

DE - Marquez Herrod Sean Goemerdinger
    DT - Curtis Cunningham
    DT - Eugene Goree
DE - Nick Kasa Toney Poremba
    OLB - Jon Major
ILB - Doug Rippy Geoff Sissom
OLB - BJ Beatty Tyler Ahles
CB - Jalil Brown Paul Vigo
S - Ray Polk Vince Ewing
S - Parker Orms Devon Martin
CB - Josh Moten Cody McAninch

    Black Team
QB - Cody Hawkins Seth Lobato
    RB - Quentin Hildreth
WR1 - Will Jefferson Cameron Ham
WR2 - Dustin Ebner Mario Conte
    Slot - Kyle Cefalo
TE - Ryan Deehan Clark Evans
    RT - Jack Harris
RG - Shawn Daniels David Clark
    C - Mike Iltis
LG - Ethan Adkins Scott Fernandez
    LT - Nate Solder

DE - Forrest West Guido Murnig
    DT - Conrad Obi
    DT - Will Pericak
    DE - Josh Hartigan
OLB - Patrick Mahnke Michael O’Connor
ILB - Michael Sipili Derrick Webb
OLB - Liloa Norbriga David Goldberg
CB - Jimmy Smith Jonathan Hawkins
S - Anthony Perkins Alan Downing
    S - Travis Sandersfeld
CB - Deji Olatoye Arthur Jaffee

I thought that splitting Iltis and Stevens as captains screamed pretty loudly that there's a tight position battle at Center and they weren't ready to name a guy.

And I think each QB has his "favorite" with Hansen-Stevens and Hawkins-Iltis being more "used' to each other.

But aren't we fairly certain that the team captains picked the players, not the coaches? So if there is any set up, it is the players' desire to win, not to separate the 1s and 2s.

Moten at CB? Interesting. No Speedy? Is he out for the game?

It loooks like the blacks went with a more defensive pick approach after Solder and the gold team a more offensive approach, but the gold team has some very athletic d players

Especially with the list of guys being held out, there was more depth on defense. I think there was more value in picking offense early.
