BOULDER – University of Colorado sophomore Morgan Stanton has been named the Pac-12 Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Buffaloes defeat Utah 2-0 in their regular season finale Nov. 7.
Stanton played in all 90 minutes and led a Colorado defense that limited Utah to 11 shots and only five on goal as the Buffs recorded their 11[SUP]th[/SUP] shutout of the year and fifth against a Pac-12 opponent. It is the first time in program history Colorado has held five conference teams scoreless in a single season since Colorado joined the Pac-12 in 2011. The Buffs’ 11 shutouts in 2014 is tied for second most all-time in one season, last accomplishing the mark in 2005.
