Sweet 16

That is how this bracket is set up. I dont like it, it encourages people to game the system. So what you do is pick your Final 4 then pick basically all upsets beyond that with a few exceptions. Those are the people that are winning. Takes away from the spirit of the bracket in my opinion.
Depending on how the point total is set-up, if each round is equal or let's say every single one is 32 but the final is 16. You'll still need the champion regardless of bonus points, getting the other Final Four picks right, or upsets. The pools that deempathize the champion, I do one that is 1,2,3,4,5,7 (no bonuses) and another that is 1,2,4,8,10,15 (with bonuses), those are ones you want to get more of the early round matchups right especially the latter.

According to this, Colorado's been talking more about Dayton than any other Sweet 16 team.

Does anyone have a way to measure "mentions" on AB since the Sweet 16 was set to see if it correlates? My gut says we've spent more time talking Arizona, UVA and Wisconsin than Dayton on this board.

I know that both Andy Glockner and the guy who ran the big Mid-Major blog are both in Denver - and both have been big Dayton backers for a while. That may be skewing Colorado's numbers a bit as well. I know my twitter feed is rather Dayton-heavy thanks to those two.

How many dunks has Tennessee already given up so far? Michigan is just flying around (and hitting their threes).

So I realize the debate is played out, but watching Michigan, ISU, UCONN, Harvard, Florida, even Wisconsin, these teams all have guys who just bomb away 3 pointers. Not saying we need to recruit a 3 point specialist but I hope we get much better at shooting next year. Plus it is entertaining and I know for a fact Tad want to bring us entertaining basketball.

Blasphemy. Thou shalt not speaketh nor worship thine idolatrous thryee poynter

The color announcer in the Mich-Tenn game is literally retarded.

Thanks to the official for ruining the end of the UT vs UM game. What an anticlimax.

You call a questionable questionable charge with 6 seconds in the game, down by one?

I watch each game until a commercial and then I flip to the other game and watch until a commercial.

The people who had Michigan State -2 weren't happy about that purposely missed FT. That's a situation where a tie feels like a loss.

Great games today!!!!!

What if we did brackets so that the seed you pick to win is equal to the number of points that team earns you?

1-seed pick earns you 1 point, but correctly picking the 16-seed gets you 16 points.
Etc., etc.

Then, in the 2nd round all point values double.

That way, picking a 1-seed to win it all would be worth: 1+2+4+8+16+32 = 63 points
But successfully picking a 12-seed to make the Elite 8 wold be worth: 12+24+48 = 84 points

Would anyone be interested in doing one that way next year?

I played in one like that 4 years ago, and hated it. Way over rated upsets

That was about as good of a night of basketball as any fan of the game could want.

Great, great tournament this year.

CBS does a round-by-round one, I think that's fun. The one thing I dislike about this is the short turnaround time between Fri night and Sat afternoon on the first weekend and to a lesser extent, Sat night on the next weekend. I already said this, but I like doing all the different formats, makes it fun.

For many, it's a choice. certainly arguments to either side, but for me, owning my personal schedule and not letting game times set it is huge.

I have most of my family and friends trained to not text me with game results until the next day, but avoiding news, Allbuffs and random stranger who see my Wisconsin shirt and say "nice win" can be tough.

For many, you have to watch sports in real time.

I can't do it, but more power to you. Like you said avoiding the news or forums like this is difficult. We saw many stories during the Pitt game of people who DVR'd it only to check it out. A big part of the appeal of sports in 2014 is to be able to discuss it in real time and it doesn't feel as authentic if you are watching in delayed form IMO.

I try to set my life around game times. When it doesn't work out, I generally check scores on my mobile and then watch the game (knowing the result) on DVR before making the rounds on the message boards.
