SAN FRANCISCO — For the second time in three weeks, University of Colorado senior outside hitter Taylor Simpson has been named the Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Simpson’s second honor comes after she helped the Buffs hand No. 2 Washington its first loss of the season on Thursday. CU also defeated Washington State on Sunday.

“Taylor had another strong showing while leading this team to this weekend sweep,” head coach Liz Kritza said. “She was her best when we needed her to be, at crucial points to pull off big wins.”

The Colorado Springs, Colo., native averaged 5.30 kills, 4.00 digs, 0.20 blocks and 5.50 points per set, while hitting .314 in the pair of victories.

Congrats to Ms. Simpson- a 2nd well deserved weekly award for her! (It pays to be a Buff named Simpson today- see separate thread about Jenny (Barringer) Simpson winning USATF Track and Field Athlete of the Year.)

It's been awesome watching Ms. T. Simpson, and how much she's kept working and improving, even significantly from last year when she was already a Buff's offensive mainstay.

Congrats again.

Tay is also one of the candidates for "Leader of the PAC" . Ballot box stuff!
