BOULDER - The No. 68 University of Colorado women’s tennis team, playing its second match this weekend, defeated their old Big 12 rival the No. 75 University of Kansas Jayhawks, 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.

It was the fourth match against a ranked opponent for the Buffaloes this season, and the win moves their record against ranked opponents to 3-1 with their overall record for the season improving to 8-1. The loss drops Kansas to 4-6 and the Jayhawks have now lost six of their last eight matches to the Buffs.

“For these guys to come out this weekend and go 2-0 with the adversities we had was unbelievable,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally.

Another good win for the Buffs. My expectations for this season were not great, but they have a really good chance of only having one loss going into conference play.

Major improvement. Got to love how this program is rebounding.

One thing I'm curious about- in most tournaments this spring, frosh Tina Bokhua was playing #1 singles and doubles, but she didn't play at all against either Nevada or Kansas this weekend. Hope she's OK.
(Obviously going to need all hands on deck to even think of being competitive in the tough Pac 12 come conference play, which starts March 6th.)
