    Tennis result below ****tards.

    Keep looking.

They're doing it right with tennis. What an epic match between Federer and del Potro, much more exciting to watch it unfold live. Fed takes it 19-17 in the third, longest three set match in the open era. And, I don't have to put a spoiler alert on!

You might have a point, but I know I'm going to get mocked in no less than three minutes for watching tennis. I'll probably be asked if I'm ghey. No one is watching this tonight.

Compared to the other stuff that is on right now, you are less ghey than you could be.

oh wait, nevermind, the gold channel has been showing bikini beach volleyball. You are ghey.

Is this on NBC or another channel/online? Because if it's being shown live on NBC then someone needs to let them know right away because it must be a mistake on their part. They can't be showing live events, that's preposterous!

What is the gold channel? Beach volleyball is very good, but Maria Sharapova v. Maria Kirilenko was not hard on the eyes. Just sayin.

I for some reason seem to prefer watching the women over the men in tennis and it isn´t about the looks only.

All tennis is shown on Bravo.

I feel for Del Potro. He gave Fed everything he had and then some, and it still wasn't enough.

A lot has to do with the equipment changes. Longer rallies with the women. Men's tennis is better on clay and, in general, reached a peak it will never get back to during the Borg-McEnroe days.

A good women's match is fun to watch. The problem with the women's game is that most of them are total head cases and often a match comes down to someone losing it rather than someone winning it. Double faults, horrible mishits, etc. And, it affects all the players. In the men's game, the points are often over quicker, but the winner is almost always the player that rises to the occasion in the bigger moments.

Disagree on both accounts. The main difference is that no one can get to the net consistently any more unless they're playing indoors. In the past few years they've slowed down the surfaces considerably and the men are playing fairly long points from the baseline, even on grass. I also don't like clay court tennis. It's a battle of attrition, not so much skill in my opinion.

I´d guess people in Spain, Switzerland or Serbia might disagree on the last count.

From a viewing standpoint grass is by far my favorite surface.

Don't forget GB. Definitely a real golden age in men's tennis right now. It says something that before Wimbledon and for the last year people wondered if Federer was over the hill and finished. He still made it to the semis or finals in basically every big tournament he entered.

Nice! I'll be happy no matter who wins tomorrow. I wouldn't count this as a win for Federer quite yet. Murray played him very closely in Wimbledon, and Roger is going to have to play less than 24 hours after a 4:30 match. I still think he's the favorite, but it sets up nicely for Murray.

EDIT: just kidding. I just saw the final isn't until Sunday. That changes the calculation somewhat. Although, sometimes you're more sore the second day after a big effort than the first. We'll see.

Roger is not sharp today. But Murray is playing great. Taking advantage of every opening.
