That the conference is done and we'll know our new conference by football season at the absolute latest. The meetings this past week only made matters worse when it came to trying to save the league.

Get ready for the Pac-16 -- it's on.

Wish I could say more, but can't. Rest assured exciting times are ahead.

Riiight. Just like Hawk was gone, and just like Mizzou and NU to the Big 10 was a lock, and Utah was a lock for the Pac. I'm not saying you will be wrong, but I will wait till it is official, instead of citing anonymous message board stuff, before I get too excited.

But if you are so sure, you will need to change your location to Stuck in Pac 16 West.:smile2:

No, but I have good sports/media contacts down my way and, in this case, it's involving us, so I thought it was worth mentioning.

Buffedup: I understand your post, and agree with it, but I don't have enough time in my day to just make stuff up. Will it happen? Well, I'm not in the room and things could change in an instant, so at the end of the day I just don't know. However, I felt confident enough to post this so you can take it however you want. In the end this is a message board and we all enjoy conversation based off any number or angle of topics.

If we don't have an announcement by the end of the month I'll be shocked.

It all makes too much sense for the Pac-16 to not happen. The Pac-8 schools will still be together while the SWC (I'm saying SWC since it would be controlled by UT) schools would be able to develop new rivals and I thought I saw this kind of potential with ASU when we had a series with them just recently. Sure this will be southwest heavy but CU cannot afford to not go down this path. This will guarantee that CU gets one west coast trip every season and that is a win win for the Buffs.

How confident are you with this? Say vs 12 or 14.

I cannot see 14 working at all...there seems to be too many problems with 14 schools. 12 or 16 schools will work but I like the 16 idea better.

Or, for all we know, you have enough time to make up a story about not having time to make things up... :smile2:

Just giving you a bad time. What you're hearing seems like it makes sense from everything else that's been going on. Glad to hear that people in a position to "hear things" aren't hearing something completely different....

OKCBuff - what do your sources say about this "Baylor replacing CU" rumor?

BCS: Good point. I forget about that board. I'll remember that one next time!

Cruise: It's the weekend and I'm a little out-of-pocket, so I'm playing catch-up. But so far I know that its probably nothing more than a political ploy. Gotta remember this is an election year and Texas has a lot of Baptists. Lots of people in Texas have a soft spot for BU because of that fact. BUT, no way the state prevents Texas, A&M and Tech to benefit just because Baylor will be left behind. I think this is a deal where they're doing this so they can go home and say "Well, we tried!" on the campaign trail. Plus, you have to remember that the Texas legislature has 181 members in it. Also, know that the current Speaker of the House (the side that appropriates state budgets) is a Vanderbilt alum and Jewish to boot. And the President of the Senate is a Presbyterian and an alum of ARIZONA. And Gov. Perry is an A&M guy, so... I just don't see BU really getting the political support needed here. One of the power players in Austin is a Pac-10 guy!!!

So, ultimately, I think the BU deal is some sort of bluff for UT to ensure that the East Division gets more focus (assurances of title games and the like) or they get more money or something.

And don't forget UT's President Powers is a Cal Alumni!!!

I'm starting to wonder if staying in the same conference with the whorns is a good idea. I kind of hope UT goes SEC.

I don't see UT going to the SEC at all. And with that kind of connection, I would imagine that UT might not have to take A&M with them.

The Pac-10 can invite CU which makes it easier for NU and MU to go to the Big 10 and then the Pac-10 invites the other five.

:yeahthat: It's always some kind of drama with UT and Texass in general. If they can't shove Bailer down the throats of the Pac-10, it will be demands to play the championship at Jerry World. Or that UT gets extra home games, or a game in LA every year. It's not just UT, it's everything about the situation down there. The constant "Texas is the center of the universe" nonsense is just intolerable. Sacky may be a little overwrought about the whole subject, but he isn't wrong....

I wish all the Texas schools would just go form their own conference. UT, AM, TT, UTEP, TCU, BU, Rice, and the U of Houston and throw in whoever else they have down there. Call it the Big Tex conference and leave us the hell alone and stop coming up here to visit.

One of the "whiz-kids" on the morning sports shows down here suggested the new-name for the PAC-16 should be the Pac-Tex...:puke:

Living in Texas for 19 years, there is an arrogance no doubt. It is a good and bad thing. UT will display the bad before all is said and done, I dont doubt that for a second. As it is, CU would be stupid not to go if this goes down.
