I hate to bring up this article...because it seems like we are stuck with Dan Hawkins even if CU goes 2-10 again this season. This doesn't mean we can't demand changes be made on the staff since they are on one year contracts.

We are favorites this weekend, and KSU looks really bad. Probably will be underdogs for every other game.

I assume that going 1-11 or 2-10 wouldn't qualify as cause to terminate? :sad1:

Did Dan mean "10 losses, no excuses?" Maybe his 10-2 was taken out of context and should've been 2-10.

That explains a lot....particularly why Coach Hawk continues to spew the same drabble and looks like he doesn't care....he knows that he has job security no matter how terrible he performs :puke:

Now if Bohn-head didn't sign him to an extension...imagine the world of possibilities right now?

So if CU fired Hawk by the 30th of this month it would cost Colorado $2,833,333.32 am I understanding this correctly?

$850,000/year or $70,833.33/month left on his contract.

40 Months left on his contract @ $70,833.33 (I believe I'm understanding this correctly)

We were favored by 4 over Toldeo and got blown out...whats your point. :woot:we will be favored over KSU, who just lost to and equally ****ty mid-major! Also, Wyoming held Texas off pretty well in the first half on Saturday before taking a **** (to be expectedm, though). Wyoming is no gimme game.

sorry.... the legal standard to terminate cause has nothing to do with wins and losses. It has to do with doing things that are against the law, morally repugnant, or he doesnt od his job. You have no cause to fire for wins and losses.

So you're saying if we get a large enough group together to heckle the living **** out of him...causing Hawk to lose his temper and maybe do something morally repugnant we can get out of this buyout????

    hmmmmm.....interesting

One positive is that we will have some stability at head coach for awhile. Maybe things will turn around before 2012 unless people step up and give Bohn the $$$ to buyout Hawk's contract.

I'm not the only one who has jumped off the Hawk bandwagon but the reality is starting to sink in with this article that Hawk will be around next season. Time to focus on demanding the team gets better instead of Hawk's dismissal which won't happen unless Hawk resigns himself.

I doubt his contract is monthly, we could likely fire him on Feb 1st and only incur the last 2 years at 1.7mil

If no one goes to the games, the AD is going to have to make a decision on what will be more expensive... Buying him out, or losing all that revenue in ticket sales.

What pisses me off about this is that if we can easily raise 3 million dollars I'd much rather that go to improving our facilities than to pay off a crappy coach

What I don't get is that after all the money it cost us to buyout GB, why wasn't Hawk's contract written so the buyout wouldn't be so high? I know that was the intent when Hawk's contract was put together and the article states that, but it doesn't sound like that goal was accomplished if the buyout is almost $3 million at this point.

First of all, I seriously doubt the school will be on the hook for much, if any of the buy-out. I think everyone is underestimating the ability of a bunch of pissed off, motivated boosters and donors to do what has to be done. Even $3m really isn't a lot of money. I seriously doubt money is the issue, or will be the issue. $3m is only $30,000 from 100 donoors, it's a car, and there are donors that have already offered much more than $30k individually.

The problem is going to lie in the fact that Bohn is going to hire the new coach. The boosters and donors are going to want assurances that Bohn isn't going to get a hardon for some douche from the WAC or similar conference, and that Bohn will do what's right for the program. Based on Bohns track record, what reson is there to think things will be different? Those that buy-out Hawk are going to want their voices heard.

And argue all you want, there IS talent on this team. The right coach could come in and turn things around in a year or two, not four or five as with a major rebuilding program.

Do you really think CU has 100 boosters capable or willing to cough up $30,000 each to fire a coach - I don't have intimate knowledge of our fundraising efforts, but I seriously doubt CU could pull that money together.

Yes, it was. And then Bohn extended the contract and changed the buyout.

I guess this is what happens when your incompetent coach and incompetent AD are good friends?

Wyoming and A&M our our best chances. Rememeber Talkins does have a trend of getting his team up for one or two games we're supposed to lose every year as well.

    06: Georgia and Texas Tech
    07: Oklahoma and Texas Tech
    08: West Virginia and Nebraska

I do. Like I said. I believe the problem lies more with Bohn giving the donors certain assurances about the hire. Out of tens of thousands alumni, the money will be raised.

Which means that the extension was written poorly as far as the buyout is concerned.
