That doesn't seem too far out of the realm of possibility.

Missouri has beaten CU pretty soundly the last few years. KU has found ways to win the past few years. Same thing with NU.

The Buffs need to win some of these games and prove some of these prognosticators wrong.

We have enough talent to win at home, which means we have enough talent to beat all three teams listed as the favorites, but we can't possibly win the North? Interesting logic.

Also, no way Mizzou goes 6-2 in the Big 12. No way. I think they're still a bowl team, but they will take a step back this season. This five-game stretch will go a long way in their defining their season:

    9/25-@ Nevada
    10/08-Nebraska
    10/17-@ Oklahoma State
    10/24-Texas
    10/31-@ Colorado

Nevada is not a pushover, particularly in Reno. That four-game stretch to start conference play is no cakewalk either. I don't think them starting Big 12 at 1-3 is much of a stretch.

i didn't quite figure that out, either. missouri fans are weird, i read that board mostly for hoops since it gets traffic but they have two pretty good years (but 2-3 td prison-sexed by UT and OU...and lose to OSU in Columbia) and now it's like they are Bear Bryant's Alabama teams of the 70's.

Gabbert was 9 for 17 for 93 yards and a pick in their spring game. Their offense could only score 1 TD. There's going to be some growing pains in Columbia.

Yeah, that board is entertaining. I read it about twice a month. Kinda like a Texags of the North, except Mizzou has actually accomplished something in the last decade.

heck, they've been trying to fire Pinkel and Mike Anderson over there for years. they kind of got their wish losing Christenson and Eberflus. too bad the Quin Snyder era is in the rearview, because that was some great internet voyeurism. lol. i'd compare it to texags as far as blowing snot bubbles laughing....the unintentional humor.

and if MU-KU isn't the most underrated hate rivalry going, what is?

If the Tigers were to get hit by the injury bug at any of the skilled positions that they are already thin at, then you can put a fork in them.

The last time those fans saw CU, Missouri was bitch slapping us around to the tune of 58-0. Is it really that hard to imagine why they would think so poorly of us?

Agree 100%, there's no way they go 6-2 in the conference and they won't finish any better than 4th in the North. Steele actually has them finishing 5th but I think they'll finish ahead of k-juco.

I was also on the same page as you and Ronson on their CU comment. Nothing like a statement that contradicts itself.

That's my thought. That was probably the only CU game many of those posters saw, and most probably have no clue as to our line injury situation last season. It would be hard to give a team that produced that pathetic effort much respect.

2-2 would actually be a good start to that conference schedule for them. Most likely it would mean that they've already beaten CU and ****braska and would be a win against KU away from having a huge headstart toward the north title.

I don't expect them to start 2-2 in conference, btw... 1-3 at best. (The win against kNU, of course...:smile2:)

Mizzou will have 4 losses when they face us, Illinois will beat them as well. I thought Mizzou lost their touch a little at the end of the season last year, now without their stars, they are really gonna struggle. **** what they think, or any other confrence fans, we just have to prove that we are that much better.

10/31 is right about the time a Pinkle team starts to fold.

In addition to a lot of talent, I think Mizzou also lost both coordinators. If they can repeat as North champs, I have not been giving Pinkel nearly enough respect.

It will fold long before that, 10/31 will be the time the head falls off.

Mizzou goes 2-2 in non-conference this year and 2-6 in conference. I strongly believe that Gabbert was a "miss" as a big-time QB recruit and that they're quickly going back to being a mediocre program that can challenge the big boys in the North every 4 or 5 years.

Likewise, I think Kansas' last year near the top is 2009 so they better get it done.

And Kansas State is about to go into a downward spiral of funding issues, legal problems, NCAA investigations, and tightening of JUCO eligibility requirements that will absolutely kill its AD.

The North will soon be dominated by CU and NU in football again.

I actually think Kansas can be a consistent bowl team. They have found their niche in DFW area for recruiting, along with south Florida. Not sure they will be consistent contenders for the North, but I think they have set up a nice foundation for the future.

Still unsure about Mizzou. I think they can make a bowl game this year, but it will take some work.

Absolutely agree on KSU. They are about to go right off a cliff.

Missouri has advantages we can only dream of. They're the only D-1 program in a state that has more people than Colorado and has two major metropolitan areas within a two hour drive from campus. Their location allows them to have the ability to recruit from a larger area as well. Fly to St. Louis? sure. Fly to KC? sure. Drive from any one of ten states in the immediate viscinity? sure. Of all the teams in the North, Missouri has the most inherent advantages of any of them. I'm surprised they haven't been kicking our asses for the last 50 years.

Agreed. Illinois is gonna beat the piss out of them. They may even struggle with Nevada. Nebraska's game against them is gonna be a tough one, being a thursday night game on the road. I think CU pulls it off against them by playing ball control with the ground game and capitalizing on some key turnovers by Gabbert.

I think they will struggle with Nevada, that team has a legit offense that can put up points in bunches. Not exactly the best team to play on the road when you're breaking in a ton of new guys on offense.

    Uh, yeah! They bitch-slapped us with the likes of Daniel, Coffman and Maclin......last I looked "None of the above" was the answer to;

"Which of these big-time, All American offensive stars are will start and play for Mizzou in 2009?"

    a) Chase Daniel
    b) Chase Coffman
    c) Jeremy Maclin

Combine that with the loss of 4 of their best defenders AND both coordinators and there are definitely issues in Columbia! Hell, they could bearly win their own Spring Game! Only scored one touchdown ?????

Really grow 'em smart---S-M-R-T--- in Missouri!

Until Hawkins start winning, he doesn't deserve any respect - especially from teams that have beaten us the last 3 years in a row. Hawkins has to $hit or get off the pot. Time is up - it's year #4. This year's schedule is the easiest I can remember - no excuses.
