LOS ANGELES – University of Colorado junior Abrianna Torres recorded a fifth place finish in the heptathlon at the 2015 Pac-12 Track and Field Outdoor Championships on Sunday.

“It was an incredibly competitive field on both sides,” assistant coach Lindsey Malone said. “Abrianna had a well fought day; it was her second best heptathlon total ever. In fact, her score from today would have won Pac-12s in 2014, so that just goes to show how great the competition was today. We were much better this year and improved in a lot of events, but everybody improved as well. That’s the way it goes and you just have to keep getting better.”

Torres finished the two-day event with 5,455 points for her highest Pac-12 point total to date. She tallied 5,357 points in 2013, which put her third overall, and in 2014, she recorded 4,810 points for eighth place.

The Pac-12 Championships will continue next weekend, May 16-17, at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA.

Decent start to the Pac 12 Championships for the Buffs, with PR's by a couple of the multi-sport competitors in what sounded like, esp. on the women's side, greatly improving competition.

(Hope Ms. Torres's total points in a meet this year are enough to qualify her for NCAA regionals.?.)
