Georgia lost a heartbreaker to the Razorbacks on Saturday. They're now 1 -2 and the peeps in Athens aren't too happy.

The Buffs, coming off a nice win, get a bye week and lots of time to heal and scheme.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Georgia has to go to Starkville and play a night game at Mississippi State, which is coming off losses to LSU and Auburn. CFN has Mississippi State ranked #45 despite the losses.

Both Georgia and MSU will be desperate for a win next Saturday -- the loser will be 0 - 3 in league play. It's going to be an extremely hard-fought game.

The week after the CU game, Georgia plays Tennessee in Athens. UT isn't any good, but it's an important league game, at home, against a traditional powerhouse. The Georgia players and coaches care a lot about that game.

It won't surprise me if the Bulldogs show up in Boulder a bit drained from the MSU game, and looking ahead to the UT game (especially if they won in Starkville). The Buffs will be rested and will have had two weeks to put together a game plan (i.e., figure out how to contain A.J. Green).

Any way you slice it, it's going to be a tough game for CU. But, the schedule lines up nicely for the Buffs. Add in the altitude and bit of hurry-up, this might not work out too badly for Colorado.

Sure beats going to Toledo four days after losing to CSU.

2 weeks of rest is always a plus....I'm still debating on whether 2 weeks to "gameplan" is a good thing or not

I think Hawk's record after a bye week is something like 0-4. Yeah, this is a trap game alright.

I bet Hawks record after a win is probably pretty close to 0-20

It's a "trap" game for Georgia in name only. By the same token, we're the ones that will be looking forward to the conf. schedule. I think that we could very well go into this game with the attitude of "let's get this one over with and get into the conf. schedule." Hence guaranteeing the loss.

Well said! I have never seen a coaching staff worse at making adjustments. My fear is they spend 2 weeks drilling these guys into one game plan, then on the first possession after and illegal block in the back and a false start its 1st and 10 from the 6 and we go 3 and out and give UGA a short field, then its 7-0. Sound familiar??

Then no adjustments are made throughout the game and we get rolled again. Ugh, this isn't fun anymore.

We made some pretty good adjustments at 1/2 time of the hawaii game.

Sadly, it's 4-11 (if I looked it up correctly).

Hawk's won three in a row twice (2007: Miami Oh, Okla, Baylor; 2008: CSU, E Wash, W Va), and other than those, has NEVER won back to back games in the same season.

That being said, I still will support the players 100%!

I looked it up, Hawk is 2-3 in games coming off a bye week. Those two wins are West Virginia in 2008 and Nebraska in 2007.

Also worth noting that those 3 losses, the Buffs actually played solid in games they "theoretically" should have been blown out of, including very fast starts in all of them (which has been a consistent knock on DII Danny):

    @ WV - Last Year
    @ kNU - in 2008 Season
@ kNU - in 2006 Season (actually was blown out of this game, but scored on opening drive & we all remember the talent level on that squad)

Maybe I'm looking for any glimmer of hope, but would love to win 2 in a row....us fans DESERVE it

I still refuse to believe CU should "theoretically" be blown out of any game.

Blown out in the 4th quarter in 2006 against NU maybe. We trailed by a touchdown going into the 4th.

And yes Hawk's teams have had some surprising performances in games we are supposed to be killed. Don't forget Georgia in 2006, OU in 2007 and Okie state last year. Oh and A lot of the Texas game last year as well. Heres hoping another good performance that turns out a W in a couple weeks!

I'm amazed at how quickly many of us have forgotten the Cal game.

Weren't we the trap game for Texas last year? Right before their matchup vs Oklahoma, we were ready to take them out. Then the second half happened.

You do keep on reminding us every chance you get sackman.

I think this is a winnable game. It's a home game. CU can beat anyone in Folsom imo.

According to our good buddy Dave Plati, Hawkins' record is 8-3 in games coming off a bye week ... http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=204983259&DB_OEM_ID=600 - Hawai'i game notes (page five). Dave didn't mention that six of those wins were from Hawkins' tenure at Boise State ...

CU's advantage will be that they have a week of rest, but it won't be a trap game for UGA. With the SEC schedule teams have to get up to play every week year in and year out. Rarely if ever is there a two week period where a team can relax. They'll be ready.

This...and under DII Danny they can lose 52-7 to about any team in the nation on the road as well....always a different team at home though, and thus where I get my confidence from

They can also get the living crap beat out of them at home. Missouri, anybody? Texas? OSU?

UGA is going to mudhole CU. I hate to say it, but it's what I believe. I hope I'm wrong, but there's just nothing about this team that gives me any shred of optimism going up against a quality football team like Georgia.

Defense - Confident that we can give UGA a good game
Offense - Not confident that we can keep from putting our defense in bad situations, or let them get off the field

Not even going to mention special teams...

The fact that SEC teams have to be "up" for every conference game is part of the reason I think this is a potential trap game.

Georgia coaches, players and fans expect UGA to be a top 10 team every year. The fact that they are 0-2 in the SEC means that they can't show up at Mississippi State with just a "take care of business" attitude. That game is a must-win for UGA, and it's on the road against a decent SEC team in a hostile stadium. They're going to pull out all the stops. Win or die. The Colorado game won't even be on their screen.

If UGA wins, and I hope they do, the next step back to respectability is Tennessee, not 3-9 Colorado. So, they head up to 5430 ft., figuring they'll make quick work of the Buffs and head back to Athens to play a real team the following Saturday.

There's no trap in a trap game if the trapper is a pathetic shell of a team that can't play. But, it looks to me that the Buffs' defense might be legit, the Cal game notwithstanding. The question in my mind is whether the offense can generate any points. If they can put up more than 21 points, this might be a game worth remembering.

The crazy part is that the Buffs defense did okay in the first quarter of the Cal game but the offense kept screwing them over. Then they seemed to give up.

Sadly, every game is a trap game for Buff fans. I honestly have no clue what will happen and I have no intention of believing we'll come out strong.

Georgia is not much better than WVU was in '08 IMO. You give them too much credit, they are beatable. We could have a Missouri moment against them, but they have a frosh QB, an overated coach, and it is a huge weekend for CU. Georgia is no Texas, Florida or Alabama thats for sure. I like our chances. Hawk has done well at preparing CU for some of the bigger games. And if we beat Georgia, I fully expect us to go into Columbia the next week and get mudholed.
