Sandy question #2: Is Colorado a done deal for our 2011 schedule? What about the other open slot in the schedule, would it go to an "A" level team like TCU? Response: Colorado was just formally signed today (Tuesday, Feb 8th), so that’s official and they will not count as a conference game. We consider them the "A" team for the schedule, and we will absolutely NOT (she was very adamant about this point) schedule TCU. We will play Fresno at a NEUTRAL (again, emphasis) site in Candlestick Park, and consider them to be our "B" level opponent. We will schedule some lower division team as our "C" level opponent.

Sandy question #4: What's going on with BCS contraction? Will we see fewer BCS conferences in the near future?
Response: This is on the minds of all AD’s right now, as we’re discussing the feasibility of contracting from 6 BCS conferences down to 4 within 4-5 years.

Ben Mills has been a spectator for most of the season for the University of Colorado men’s basketball team. On Saturday, he showed that he just might be more useful to the Buffs on the court. A freshman form Hartland, Wis., the 7-foot, 215-pounder got his first taste of the Big 12 during CU’s 58-56 win against Kansas State at Coors Events Center. Mills didn’t score a point in his nine minutes. He didn’t even attempt a shot. But he did block two shots and give the Buffs a lift on defense.
"I thought our guys that came off the bench really were ready when their number was called," Boyle said. "I was really proud of those guys, because it’s not easy to go to practice every day and not get in games and respond when your number is called, and they all did. "I thought Shannon Sharpe really grew up tonight." So did Mills — and the Buffs may have discovered another option for their post defense.

Monday was a day off for the CU men's basketball team. But Ben Mills showed up at the Coors Events Center for about an hour of extra work with assistant Mike Rohn, Mike Bohn's Evil Twin who coaches the Buffs' big guys.

New CU football coach Jon Embree said he might have a late addition or two to his first recruiting class, and that prediction rang true Monday when Albuquerque's Tyler McCulloch signed a letter-of-intent to join the Buffaloes. “We’re excited to have him as part of the program and he is a great addition for us,” Embree said. “Tyler has got a great combination of athleticism and size, plus he’s an exceptional student.”
The Pac-12 will boast the best collection of quarterbacks in the country next fall. In fact, no other conference is even remotely close. Seven teams welcome back quality starters, and four of them -- Stanford's Andrew Luck, Oregon's Darron Thomas, USC's Matt Barkley and Arizona's Nick Foles -- are legitimate All-American candidates. On the flip side, five teams have questions at the position, though just three competitions appear wide open: California, UCLA and Washington. Here's a quick look at where each team stands.

Proving people wrong has become second nature to Scotty McKnight. It`s just what he does, especially on the football field. So while several of his former Colorado teammates are being mentioned as possible first-day picks in the annual National Football League draft in April, McKnight is on the opposite end of the spectrum gearing up to overcome another round of doubters. He left Boulder in December to begin workouts back home in Orange County hoping to improve his speed and strength in advance of the draft.
He is working out at a facility provided by AthletesFirst along with other prospects from programs around the nation, including former Buffs left tackle Nate Solder, former Washington quarterback Jake Locker, former Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller, former Connecticut running back Jordan Todman and former Oregon State defensive tackle Stephen Paea.

Here are your valentines to your favorite Pac-12 team (we couldn't use all of them, and one team got stiffed. Utah and Colorado got a few extra because they are new and we want to know why they are loved).
My favorite is the Big Noise from Winnetka:David from Winnetka, Ill., writes: The reason most CU fans love the Buffs despite losing seasons is because we have an almost pathological inability to admit that this isn't the early 90's. Go Buffs!
