yes Hawk and Company lucked out and CU converted the two point conversion to go ahead 17-10 instead of 16-10 however IMHO going for it was stupid

Colorado had JUST GONE AHEAD IN THE 3RD QTR......

you should NEVER go for 2 when AHEAD or when it's any quarter other than the 4th and you ARE BEHIND-

I disagree. There are no set in stone rules that you can only do it in the 4th or behind. It made sense to get the score to be up a TD and PAT not a TD and PAT and we are losing. It also got us some serious MO

ITB is right. It was a moronic, idiotic move.

Here's why: Later in the game, CU was up 17-13 and UH had the ball and was driving. I turned to my Dad and said "OK, here's a hypothetical for you: What if CU had not converted that 2-pt conversion?" UH could have taken the lead with a field goal, that's what.

It is the pinacle of stupidity to go for two points before the fourth quarter. There is too much football yet to be played. You don't know what's going to happen. There are too many possessions for both teams remaining. Too many variables, and you may need that point later.

It's just another in a long, sad line of horrible coaching decisions by D-II Dan.

    I liked the call.

It was gutsy and it was successful.

Even Goodman hits a FG from time to time. And while I know you're just joking, the simple fact remains that you don't know what's going to happen later in the game. Maybe he'd hit a 58 yard field goal. Naaaahhh, that would never happen.

It was successful, and blatantly stupid. It's not gutsy, it's moronic.

You assume Goodman would have made the PAT.

Agree 100%... Who cares at this point. We won. Hawk has so much ill will from us that he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't

You're only saying that because we converted. Had we not converted, it would have put us up by 5 points, not 6, with about 25 minutes of football left to play. It was a ridiculously stupid move on Hawkins part. Really. Stupid is stupid, even when it works.

I am saying that because it was made. Congrats to the team for executing. If they wouldn't have converted we would all be executing Hawk.

My thought during the game when they decided to go for 2 was that it was too early to be chasing the points.

This is the problem. We're acting as though it's OK to do stupid sh*t so long as it works. IT'S NOT OK TO DO STUPID SH*T, regardless of whether it works or not.

I thought it was dumb too and I said it when it was happening. I've seen it burn teams in the past and it has been talked about by many as not a good move so early.

Not only can you lose that point if you don't make it but I think you lose some MO from the TD too. It's really a desperate call made by a desperate coach, if you ask me. (and I know you didn't ask me so shut it):smile2:

It was a good call. You go for two when you're not sure if you'll be able to score again. As such, the Buffs should go for two points after every time they score.

I thought it was a good call because Hawaii's defense couldn't stop us. However, when we didn't handoff I freaked. They couldn't stop our running game on that drive.

    Doesn't matter to me.

I imagine the team liked it, tho. Sent a message.

I was thinking about going for two before we scored. I was contemplating whether or not we should go for it if we scored. I was about 50-50. So to rip Hawkins, from my percpective, would be disingenuous. I had no problem with him going for it. Plus, I did not believe Hawaii could stop us at that point.

How sad is it that when I saw they came out to go for 2 at that point my first thought was "Sacky's head is going to asplode"? My second thought was "How ****ing stupid are you, Dan"??? (An unanswerable question like the size of the universe, I know...) CU already had all the momentum at that point, so I don't believe for a minute that play gave it to us. However, failing there could easily have killed it. Failing there leaves Hawaii in position to take the lead with a FG. It worked, but it was not the right call...

All successful decisions are brilliant; all failed decisions are moronic.

This week, and this week only, Hawk is a freakin' genius.

C'mon Sacky, enjoy the win. You can go back to being pissed off after the Georgia game......

Agree....their D didn't stop us 1 time that drive, and every run we had was over 5 yards...thought the same thing, why not pound it one more time on the 2pt. conversion

In any event....only reason people are questioning it is due to deep seeded spite for DII Danny
