WBB: Good game vs Minnesota

This tourney is pretty much a home game slate for Minnesota, which is a good women's basketball program.

I'm following it on Twitter (cubuffs). Minnesota started on a 9-2 run. CU has closed to within 45-41 at half. Brittany Spears already has a double-double. And the 41 is the most points the CU women have put up by halftime on the road since 2004.

This would be a huge win tonight for the program.

Go Buffs!

Colorado and Minnesota tied at 60-60 with 11:09 remaining. Brittany Spears has 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Big game for Brittany.

To finish up (got sidetracked last night), Minnesota got some home cooking from the officials and ended up taking 34 free throws (made 30). Down the stretch their FT shooting killed us and they closed the game out 87-78.

Still, a promising showing by the Buffs. Really makes me think this team is headed to the postseason this year.

They need to learn to close. In spite of the huge free throw disparity (CU takes 13, Minny takes 34 (30 if you leave out the last 4 when CU was fouling in the waning moments), they still had a good chance. With about a minute to go, CU was down by only 3. Then, the Buffs failed to corral a defensive rebound, allowing Minny to get the rebound and put back..... 5 point hole. And, on their last two possessions, CU turned to ball over instead of getting points.

Definitely some good things in this game, compared to previous seasons. But they need to learn how to win again, a tough task especially on the road against a good team used to winning at home.
