It feels like a lot of people are coming up with a lot of reasons we can't be successful. Starting with that goofball Jesse Palmer.

Our admissions are too high; we can never win.

The administration doesn't like football and wants to see it fail.

    There's no in state recruits.

    We have no money.

Texas and Oklahoma spend too much money, we can't compete.

We have to schedule unwinnable out of conference games to get fans in the stands.

I say **** all of that. We are not destined to be mediocre at best. There are some things that we have to overcome that some other schools don't, but it's far from impossible. Our fan support isn't that bad, look at Okie State having a boat load of empty seats as they are ranked 12th in their brand new stadium courtesy of their sugar daddy. Schools with high academic standards can't win, what? Northwestern and Stanford are willing to debate that. No in state recruits? States not named: Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania will all agree with you. As for the money, it seems as though we have sold ourselves short on that one as it now seems very likely that the money is in fact there.

Sorry, but I just don't accept that college football has no parity and we can't get ourselves a piece of the action. Have we been great ever since Mac left? No. Rick ****** us and then GB did a decent job, but the scandal hit and recruiting took a nosedive. Scandals don't end college football programs unless they let them. Alabama was very recently in a whole heap of trouble, doesn't look like it's effecting them too much. Granted, we aren't Alabama and never will be, point is they got a good coach in there and he is working wonders. We just need a good coach and we can get back to having 8+ win seasons with regularity.

    I agree completely.

Fans, recruits, donations, media, etc, etc.

They all follow winning. Winning is always a result of good coaching.

My dad is in town. He grew up in Kansas (family that went to KU and KSU). He went to Mizzou. I said something about needing a new coach and how we needed to recruit better. His response: Look around at where you live. Who wouldn't be able to recruit to this place? The only thing they have to sell in a place like Stillwater is football.

Its not doom, its frustration. Funny, how in August we were playing for the North, now we will never win another game. Hell, after KU, some folks still had us back in the North race. It is hilarious. Hawk is right about one thing, stay out of the valleys and off of the mountain tops.

Yep, CU has a lot going for it. Some people seem to be acting like a new coach is just going to be more of the same, and I couldn't disagree more. A good coach can get this thing going again. We shouldn't be accepting of a mediocre team. If we can't get over the hump and beat teams like Texas or Oklahoma every year, that's one thing, but it's not like the rest of the Big 12 is a bunch of world beaters. All of these excuses are just reasons why Hawk sucked in his time here and it doesn't mean someone else can't come in and turn it around.

With the North division the way it is, a good coach should have us going to a decent bowl game within 2 years.

Look no further than the little apple for what a good coach can do for you. I would wager we have more talent to work with too.

Ames, Manhattan, Columbia, Lincoln, Lubbock, and College Station all agree with your father's statement. Norman, Waco and Lawrence have a little bit more going for them but not much.

Austin is the only other school in the conference that can compare with Boulder in terms of what the city has to offer a recruit.

Waco? Waco? Seriously? Have you ever been there? There are HS stadiums in Texas nicer than their's.

Waco, Lubbock and College Station all have relatively nice campuses, and in my opinion are all more pleasant than UT's, which is 95% concrete. It's the lack of entertaining options off campus that don't revolve around binge drinking that makes them among the many undesirables in the conference. I've never been to Lawrence but would like to for a road game as from everything I've heard it's a top 3 Big 12 town. Would like the music scene especially.

In state talent has never been better and it will keep getting better as more people move here.
