I believe in this team. Our play at Michigan was encouraging. But we made too many mistakes to overcome. Our play at Oregon was breathtaking at times. But we made mistakes which almost cost us the win. Now those are behind us and it's time to look ahead. We are stepping out of the frying pan and into the fire. A look at what's coming:

    vs Oregon St.
    at USC
    vs Arizona St.
    at Stanford
    vs UCLA
    at Arizona
    vs Washington St.
    vs Utah

We have to play better. Our special teams are still a concern. We gave up too much on defense against Oregon in the second half. We threw a couple of picks that led to two Oregon TD's. We must eliminate those mistakes.

The defense does need to continue getting better, and I think they will. They were very good in the first half but mediocre to below average in the 2nd. Anybody know how many snaps Falo got at LB?

I agree - we are a very good team with the chance to be great if we eliminate some correctable mistakes.

I think everyone - from players to coaches - made some mental errors yesterday that could have been costly.

I saw him out there a few times but I just think Gamboa and Oligbode are pretty far ahead of him. Not bad for depth, but doesn't look like he's the same player he once was.

Watching Arizona and ASU last night, they are improving.

One thing I noticed after Gilliam made a tackle....he got up looking to celebrate the play, and Tedric ignored Gilliam's attempted high five. Perhaps the guys don't have his back.

I agree they were not as good in the second half, but they gave up all 21 of the second half points in a span of six minutes, and 14 of those points were off turnovers (one giving Oregon the ball at our 27). Then held Oregon scoreless in the fourth.

This team still has a bad tendency to let mistakes and big plays snowball into massive score and momentum swings. Incredible fight and toughness to bounce back from that, but we have to get better at closing teams out.

And another 7 after they'd stopped Oregon and had a fake punt move the ball inside the 30. The thing I was most nervous about with this game on defense is that Michigan found its success with quick hitters and sweeps to the perimeter. That's what Oregon is best at, so our weakness played directly into their strength. But the Buffs really stepped up with a lot of improvement in this aspect, especially with the open field tackling out there and good angles.

Gillam may not have had very many tackles but I did see his long flowing mane running around at there quite a bit which is encouraging to me. I think he was key in helping stretch plays out to the sidelines, he just didn't get the tackles.

Hoping he gets more run. He looks like a player trying to come back from injury, he needs reps to shake off 2 years of rust.

Also agree DBT, and that is what is so exciting to me. We have a ton of room for improvement and HCMM has shown in previous years that he can improve the team as the year goes forward. If he can accomplish his goal of having this team peaking in November, then CU is going to be really really good that last moth.

I saw Gillam hustling several times. Downfield trailing WRs to eliminate cutback lanes and cause the guy to run out of bounds. Stuff like that and what you said that don't show up in the stats but are huge for good team defense. He's starting to round back into form.

I wouldn't worry about Gillam just yet, he's definitely still finding himself back a bit. Sometimes, it takes a few games to get back to where you were. He'll look better down the road, if he stays healthy.

I was stunned that Oregon didn't bring pressure on our punter. Flabbergasted.
