We take you now to West Point, NY...?

I'm sorry, but I'm having troubles taking the "dinner with female cadets" thing as some sort of recruiting advantage. And it's not because I'm trying to insult them, but I actually don't believe that there are a lot of them that would permit themselves to be used in that manner.

After the way that CU was handled by the press and lots of other people in the wake of the non-scandal that resulted in the equivalent of a self-imposed NCAA "death penalty" for CU football, I have to admit for a fair amount of schadenfreude every time I see any story that any school may have gotten in trouble. Miami? Loved it, at least until the NCAA screwed up the investigation. North Carolina? Love it. Todd Gurley? Love it, give me more. Articles on the corrupt cops of Tallahassee? Love, love, love. But then we get to West Point, a bunch of future officers and gentlemen, the future defenders of our nation, how can I possibly . . . nope, still LOVE IT!

Oh noes dinner with female cadets!1!1

Unless they were assaulted, coerced to go or harassed I don't see an issue. Didn't read the article. A lot of schools have a welcoming committee that includes women. The other stuff is where you get into trouble given tax payer dollars.

Would anyone go to West Point though if they were given 500 handshakes? That's a big commitment to make for little cash.
