The Big XII decides to fight back. They keep everyone and decide to add... Opt out of TV deal with something in the contract to renegotiate? Maybe able to with expansion?

Who would / should they go after?

    North:
Utah, BYU top canidates... That would be an easier package deal to go to the Big XII than the pac 10. If they fall thru then do they lower themselves to after CSU? Or go for the better fit of Air Force? Do they bring both and shift teams to the south?

    South:
New Mexico and TCU would be the top canidates. Also the possibility of Houston or do they go after markets in the south with sub par teams figuring the strength of the south can absorb it like Lousiana Tech or a Memphis?

Just some things to throw out. I know there are a ton of scenarios, but I think the Big XII could snipe 4 teams and fight for the confrences survival.

For the South I'd rather add Memphis and Louisville though the geography is more of a stretch. That's assuming we can't poach someone from say the ACC who's tv deal is even worse than ours.

The Big 12 can fight all they want but when you have the Governor of Missouri begging the Big Ten to take them and the Nubs saying hey what about us? While Texas is winking at the Big 10, but know they cant leave first and CU's chancellor and AD are talking glowingly about the natural fit of the Pac 10 the writing is on the wall. All that needs to happen is one major market in the Big 12 to bolt and the conference will come crashing down.

That is most likey what will happen, but if the Big XII pulls strings and throws money at people anything can happen. That is a really big IF though.

Helluva a boost to big XII basketball, but I doubt that they can get both schools.

Where are they going to get that money? The B12 commish just said the schools need to deal until 2015 when the TV deal will get fixed.

I do think the lack of anything going on with the Big 12 is surprising. They could certainly approach ESPN regarding a change in the contract.

I don't know how realistic is is to believe the Big 12 can renegotiate their tv contract early, but that's what it will take.

If they did, adding Air Force and CSU to the North would be huge for football in Colorado and make for some great games. Plus we'd avoid having to play CSU in the first game every year.

I would love to see more exposure for Colorado football but I doubt if the Big 12 said hey we want to renegotiate our contract we are getting Air Force and CSU I think the network would pass.

Now if you could steal Utah/BYU and Arizona State I think they would listen.

I'm not a big fan of the Rams but someone on RamNation (Similar to NetBuffs) posted this:

Based on those facts, you got to wonder why CSU isn't in a BCS conference by now. I wouldn't mind CSU being in-conference rivals as long as we BEAT THEM!

That just made me puke. At one time we ran would the big dogs now our fans are happy to run at the back of the Pack. I have to say that after over 50 years of being a rabid CU sports fan I am probably reached a point of being a former fan, donor, and season ticket holder. I will credit Mike Bohn for lowering the bar to an all time low. Now the fans don't even care.

I want CU to be at the top of the Big 12 not at the bottom of the MWC. I really think we are coming to the end of quality athletics at CU unless something changes. Excuse me I have to go puke again.

Perhaps an "I'm going to barf" thread is in order.

The Colorado State University? I hate when the Buckeyes do that "The" **** and they can actually back it up.

Because they aren't the flagship state school and have a 32,000 person stadium they can't fill and can't get their fans to care about any game except when they play us? Also seems like a case of manipulating the use of statistics to support an argument. Isn't 33 kind of an arbitrary number to cut it off at? You know why they cut it off there? Because Utah is number 34 and Utah can make a hell of a lot better case as to why they should be in the BCS. They are the flagship university in Utah, have better athletics, and closer ties to a growing metro TV market. Also both Nebraska and West Virginia are below 33 as well. I know a lot of CSU graduates, I don't know any CSU graduates that go to their football games unless its the CU/CSU game.

The list has been culled and misrepresented - For example, there are 2 land grant universities in many states and often the second one is not a BCS school - like University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff is a Land Grant University, ditto for Prairie View in Texas, Florida A&M, Interesting the way he dealt with Mass. since he tried to put in their that MIT was a private school but ignored that UMASS was the bigger Land Grant University. The entire University of California system is the recipient of the Land Grant funding not just Berkley as he tried to say - in fact Riverside and Davis get the bulk of the agricultural mission and funding.

Here is the real fact - Land Grant Universities were not set up for athletics and the BCS was not set up for LGU's
