    Hey guys,

Decided to definitely come out for the Cal/CU game on September 10th. Wanted to get a sense from you guys when I needed to book my hotel by, and where the best places to stay are. Will be coming with a group of dudes (no wives/girlfriends on this trip) who are all in our early to mid-30's.

    Thanks for any advice.

You want to be in downtown Boulder, so you can walk to restaurants/bars. You should book soon. You may already be facing sold out hotels.

Millenium Harvest House? Never stayed there but they're a lot of activities before the game.

St. Julien. Boulderado. Those are pimp. After that, broker inn is OK purely because its close to the Dark Horse. Then things tend to get smaller or you gotta find a ****** chain.

Yeah that's the plan -- trying to get confirmation from 8 guys is always a fun time. If it was 7 years ago we'd all decide to go on Sept. 8th and end up staying at a youth hostel in Denver or something. Progress!

I'd go with the Boulderado for easy access to Catacombs.

There is a hostel in boulder. I know because I tried to stay there once when I hadn't sorted an apartment. But they won't let you stay there unless you have an out of state ID. ****ers.

Really depends on what you're looking for.

If you were coming with a wife/girlfriend, I'd suggest trying to get into the Bradley. Not the place for a group of guys, though.

If you think it's going to be a Hangover type weekend, then you just want to be close to bars. Boulderado or St. Julien would be the nice places downtown, but you pay for it.

A cheap option that has possibilities is the Outlook. It puts you really close to Folsom, has a younger crowd, a decent bar, and close to the Darkhorse and Millenium Harvest House (CJ & Klatt do a pre-game remote from there). More of a motel style place, but very funky and nice enough.

Another option a lot of people don't think of is Chataqua. If you want to do some hiking, be close to a great Sunday breakfast/brunch, and have a house or houses to yourselves, it's a good option. Depends on what you like.

Another option would be to rent one of those houses up at Chautauqua. That would be pretty rad if you could get a house that backs up to the park and the flatirons. I know people do that for football games.

Best Western GOLDEN BUFF to be exact.

And The Broker Inn isn't "unique" like it used to be, it's now a Rodeway Inn which is usually equivalent to a Super 8. Hope it hasn't gone that far downhill.

What's that motel that is on the east side of Broadway b/w University and Arapahoe? I'd say this is a good cheapish location- within walking distance of the pretty/historical part of campus, the Hill, Pearl St. etc.

Maxer, I work at a hotel in boulder. We raised our rates for the football weekend for the first time ever this year, but if you want, I could probably get you a good deal. What kind of price range are you looking for? Any particular amenities? Walking distance to Folsom Field? PM if you want the low down.

I stayed at the Boulder Outlook on my last visit in November.
It was unimpressive, but close to campus. I wouldn't go back, unless nothing else was available. The room furnishings are outdated.

I've enjoyed the Boulder Marriott on 26th an Canyon. It's a not a bad walk to the stadium and Pearl Street. And it's got IHOP, Pancake House and The Buff Restaurants for Breakfast right next door. The Buff Restaurant is a must do for gameday breakfast.

Spend the dough. Go St Julien, chuck in a hooker and some blow. Make a weekend of it.

What do you want to do:

    1. pre-game it up? Millennium Harvest House is usually where a lot of our foes have their meetup. You may want to be near Folsom/the tailgate scene.
    2. Party after/before the game? There aren't too many hotels near Pearl St, but there are some. Cabs can be a pain to get when the bars close
    3. Hiking in your plans?
    4. Do you guys even want to see downtown Denver or are you content with just staying in Boulder? There are definitely more things to do for the mid-30s crowd in Denver than Boulder.
    5. Is price a factor? Do you guys mind staying in a rundown hotel?

Boulder is fairly small so it's easy to get around once you are here. However, you aren't going to want to drive around much after the game and leaving the city after a game is ******.

BTW... the gameday atmosphere in Boulder blows the gameday atmosphere in Berkeley out of the water. Stay in Boulder - you won't regret it.

If you can stay in Boulder, do so. You won't regret it. As Daaah says, Boulder on gameday is incredible. Not incredible the same way an SEC type school is. It's not like the whole city shuts down and watches the game. But there's all kinds of activity buzzing around town on a gameday. Breakfast at the Golden Buff, Turley's or Lucille's - tailgating, and then drowning your sorrows at one of the 20 or so bars along Pearl St. And yes, you will be drowning your sorrows.
