We're starting to see a lot of players announce OVs for the upcoming seasons. But not for CU.

Once again, it looks like Embree is employing the strategy of hosting most (if not all) Official Visits for after the season. This makes it especially important to make a bowl game so that the team is actually practicing in December.

Do you guys like this strategy?

I'm not a fan of this strategy. Folsom has some magic in the fall and it doesn't translate well on tv.

I think there's an advantage to hosting during the season, particularly if the game is on tv. There may be players watching at home who see the visitors, the crowd, the facilities, and the various tv shots of the stadium and beautiful surroundings, and it may influence them into considering CU.

Undecided. I can see why Embree would want to just focus on the games until he gets the program rolling. So, maybe this isn't an overall philosophy but, rather, a temporary measure so he can concentrate fully on working with a very young team. Also, he may want a bit more maturity on the team before he has them hosting recruits.

Pretty sure that if CU were expected to win all these games, they'd be hosting recruits at them. And I doubt that they're wanting to show off CU when they're playing an FCS school.

I don't think the coaches need the distraction. They're still learning their game, too. Wins (or just improvement on the field) are more important at this point than visits during games, which probably do give recruits a bit of an adrenaline rush (a good thing for impressionable 17 year olds).

I think it is good. The recruits will get undivided attention when they're on campus. Just don't bring recruits in during finals week.

Not a fan. If I was their age and being recruited by top Pac 12 schools and going to the Rose Bowl, etc. on OVs I wouldn't want to go to Boulder in freaking Dec. when it is cold and few hot students around, etc. I'd want to feel the stadium atmosphere and check out the co-eds! Mabye that's just me though.

If a top recruit wanted to visit during a game in September or October I would think CU would do everything possible to make that happen.

Bottom line, I don't think we have a ton of top prospects wanting to come visit at this point. Since we are not a leader for much of the top talent, I think Embree is trying to get CU lined up as the last visit for many of the prospects. Let them see everyone else, then Embree can sell them on CU.

That and nothing says rethink options like having a prospect watch CU get pounded by 40.

Ye of little faith. I am going on record to say that our defense will be better (enough) and our offense will be on the field longer (due to a better running game) that we will not get beat by 40 by anyone this year!

It only works if we are a bowl team. Otherwise, you essentially kill recruiting momentum between Junior Day and after the season, about eight months. It also means you will see more commits take other visits IMO.

This is what makes earning a bowl game so important for a team (beyond the extra practices to get ready for the next season). Embree would be much more willing to schedule a powerhouse gauntlet in the OOC if the NCAA rules changed to allow teams to practice in December regardless of whether they made a bowl game.

God I hope you are right. We will know soon enough with the non-conference schedule. I can only hope that both sides of the ball are ready to play.

If we don't win 3 or 4 games out of the first six it is going to be a long season.

No matter what, we are still so far behind the ducks and SC in the talent department. Short of a natural disaster I don't see either of those games being in question after halftime.

I'm undecided about it. I like being the last school for recruits to visit but Boulder and especially Folsom in Fall have an allure and charm that is hard to beat.

I thought it worked pretty well last year. Overall both sides seem to have pretty good arguments. Wait until after the season and the coaches can dedicate the entire weekend to the recruits. Host them during the season and that goes away, but a gameday atmosphere is there and the recruits might have more fun.

how many spots do we really have left, I'm not so sure that we are going to swing that many kids anyway.

I agree I think if the D stays healthy and Crawley does his job we could be pretty lock down

At the end of the day, I think it will get close to 20.
