This gives me an opportunity to classify university logos into four categories (based on my opinion):

    1. Kick ****ing Ass:
CU-simply an awesome college logo--and that's not the bias speaking.
Texas-say what you want about the Horns, that's a great looking brand.

    2. Pretty Good:
Kansas State--Recognizable, creative, pleasing. I like it, as long as it doesn't force me to think about their freaky, ginormous-headed man/cat mascot.
Texas A&M--They did the most they could with their letters, and it's pleasing, and simple.
    Texas Tech. See aTM.

    3. Meh:
nebraska--It almost made the "pretty good" list, and I'll admit that bias may have kept it out. It's simple, it's recognizable, but it's also as bland as the state it represents. It's mostly just meh.
Oklahoma--This one also came close to the "pretty good" list, but frankly, without the tremendous success of their football program backing it, this logo is simply forgettable. I'll admit it looks pretty good, written in white on a crimson ballcap.
    Baylor--Boooooring...

    4. What the ****?:
Mizzou--When they pulled "Little Black Sambo" from library bookshelves for its offensive racial stereotyping, they forgot to pull the associated tiger from Missouri's logo. I get that they're the tigers (inexplicably), and I know what one looks like, but couldn't it somehow be more memorable or unique?
Oklahoma State--It's as if they wanted to explain to the world that they run an agricultural, land-grant college that doesn't support an art department and doesn't foster to creativity. They captured the sentiment nicely in one, lame, unpleasing logo.
Iowa State--Thank God they updated this piece of ****. Are they birds or are they a weather phenomenon? Frankly I can't tell, but whatever they are, they don't frighten me.
Kansas--Sometimes university logos and mascots can be quirky to the point of cool. The Oregon State Beavers? Kinda cool. Even the neighboring Oregon Duck's older, less fierce logo was kind of cool in a non-threatening, "we don't take ourselves too seriously" sort of way. But somehow the Jayhawk is just stupid. This may be the lamest logo in all of college sports. Lame, lame, lame. What size shoe does that ****ing bird wear, anyway?

I've always thought those buckle shoes that the bird wears are pretty lame. As for misery, I thought their old tiger-paw logo with the "M" on it was pretty decent.

This got me to looking at college logos and I came across this site. CSU made their list, and the Wake one is pretty good too.

i like this Ralphie logo better than the new one with the slanted CU.

i think the KU jayhawk is so stupid it kind of works backed up with the hoops history there.

top tier i put CU, UT and OU.

I stand corrected. Not all of your posts are related to how much better our helmets used to be.:lol:

K-state's logo appears to be stolen from the USFL. And Texass's might be a classic, but it's still a cattle.

To me, colors also play a big part of the logo, and that's where UT and KJuco fall short. Burnt orange is just horrendous in any context, and purple teams should not play football. By choosing purple as a school color, you're only announcing to those you compete with that a woman chose your colors.

I'll stick up a bit for KU. I like the nickname Jayhawks and I even think some of their teams where red and blue well (football and baseball), but the execution of the jayhawk in their logo does indeed falls far short of acceptable.

I'd also add that any cowboys, wildcats and tigers be automatically barred from any logo conversation because those nicknames by themselves are utterly lacking in any creativity.
