SYKO is that you?
the Reed kid was an EE. Hardest position to recruit though seems to be DL. If HCMM is a 3-4 guy we need some athletic OutsideLB/DE types that can run...
I'm hoping if we don't land all 3 of Jones, Awuzie, and Thompson that we'll schedule Melifonwu for a visit and give him a legit offer.
Gilbert will probably be a DE imo. I'm betting Reed might be one somewhere down the road too.
Per Adam, HCMM did an in-home with Loud to try to flip him back. Still waiting to hear if it was successful.
Cu is in on some but for this year, can't really expect much.
We took 9 last year. We got 17 scholarships and we got bigger near terms needs (i.e. we are taking 6 OL guys).
Going to have to come next year. Losing Loud and Jagne hurts.
Hopefully Stuart and Wilson are ready to contribute.
Exactly. Solis, Topou looked good. Kofavalu and Hennington got some PT also. DT is a place where CU could afford to stand pat. DE has CUD, Juda, and hopefully Wilson and Smith ready to step up. Thin but not the end of the world. Of course, Loud and Jagne would have been good additions.
CU has needs at very nearly every position. Really, how many spots can we point to and say, we're set at the _____ position? While CU isn't totally deleted, there is a ways to go before they are on an equal footing talent wise with SC, UCLA, Oregon et al.
7 DL. Either way, I'm not sure we can afford to ignore DL for an entire cycle
Gilbert will be a DE and Frazier a DT eventually IMO.
Isn't mcCartney a DE?
yes. and he's on campus as well.
I really think they should take 1 to 2 DT's per cycle. You need a solid rotation of 4 (minimum) with possibly one or two more getting a few snaps a game.
But it's a pipe dream this time. Prolly too late in the recruiting cycle to find any DT's.
I think MacIntyre would like to take more DL. He tried bringing in Timothy Coleman in for a visit and tried re-flipping Loud
I think he honed in on a few prospects and struck out. It happens. Now is not the time to reach for marginal prospects.
I would like to hear syko's thoughts on this.
He didn't actually try. He talked with Timothy, but did not extend an official visit (not necessary, the kid lives in Denver). Coleman may have not been their first choice, but fwiw, he still looks like he has high upside. Probably could use a greyshirt on this kid and allow him to get fully healthy, stronger, lose some baby fat, and go thru a period of learning better technique. He's way more a project than Loud. But that's not a bad thing.
HCMM has one slot for DL.
Coleman would be very interesting as a greyshirt.
It's sounding like we might need a Coleman profile...
I would like to hear more about his attempt with Loud. That is one guy I really wanted in this class.
You are starting to creep me out dude. HCMM had an in-home visit. Loud did not switch his commitment. What else are you wanting to hear about?
I get my info from this board. You told me what I needed to know. Coach wasn't able to recruit Loud to CU when given the chance.
