Everyone be patient it takes Nik awhile to get his poll up. :smile2:
I don't need no stinking poll!
My vote would probably be someone on the DL. Maybe Herrod?
I went other for Ray Polk. To transition to the safety spot is tough, and I think he's going to be a great one.
A little blue pill and some creative googling is all it took. :wink2:
This poll confirms one thing, our offensive recruiting sucks:huh:
Forrest West. Why were there other options?
D'oh! Screwed that up. I meant to include him. He'd be my top write-in candidate since he may have been our defensive MVP Saturday and he looks like he's a future All-Big 12 guy.
Cunningham played pretty well last week, as near as I could tell from KOA.
Went with West because (1) he was a 2* and not very highly recruited, (2) is a true frosh and (3) Bandison hasn't shown up until this year.
The development of Bandison into what looks like a good DL coach is the best development we've had all year, imo. Now I just wish he and the rest of our staff could recruit some more good DL...every single year and ones that are man-children and can compete from day 1 (hopefully we won't need it though).
other for nate bonsu
Good call on Bonsu, too. I screwed that up. I'd actually typed his name in and then forgot to keep him on the list as I copied and pasted to get it in alphabetical order. :smile2:
Herrod without a doubt. He's the key to the DLine's resurgence, IMO.
Drescher. I have no complaints about our long-snapping this year. Plus he must have cuts and blisters all over his hands since we punt a s*** load. :smile2:
Also, I would nominate Burney - the entire defense has looked better since he took over at safety, and I didn't expect much from him coming off 27 surgeries or whatever it was.
I went with Herrod, but a case could easily be made for a lot of these guys. Some young defenders have really played above expectations.
Will pericak... just because I already called Forrest as this years Speedy back when we signed him, so his contribution is no surprise
Cody - I didn't expect him to play much at all and look! He's started almost every game!!!!!
At the start of the season he was not even in the conversation on D line. I remember some talk about "natural position" etc.
He was a freight train in high school as a linebacker, average at best at TE, and never, to my knowledge played DT. Considering he had to put on 50 lbs to play DT, and that the coaches originally wanted to play him at TE, I'd say that the discussion was warranted. I'm thrilled that he's starting and playing well.
I'm liking what I'm seeing from this DL so far, though. They are young, fast, and angry. Against the pass happy offenses of the Big 12, that's a good thing to have.
I will be the first to admit that at the start of the season, D line was the biggest concern I had. I never expected to be talking about how great they have been playing. Props to everyone on the D line and the coaches that have got them to make huge improvements from the first few games.
I don't care who they're pissed off at.
