Not sure how the tournament will work exactly, but looks like teams will be facing off against each other one at a time in a match play format, with the Buffs playing the U. of Houston this morning.

Per the San Diego State (host institution) preview (from http://www.goaztecs.com/sports/w-golf/spec-rel/032215aaa.html )-
"The tournament gets underway Monday with tee times starting at 7:45 a.m. PT on holes 1 and 10 with eight first-round matches, which will consist of a best three-of-five series. The competition resumes on Tuesday with two second-round matches, while a final round of single matches will determine the team champion on Wednesday.

A single 16-team bracket will be utilized for the opening round before the tournament splits into eight-team championship and consolation brackets for the remaining two days. Live results will be available courtesy of BirdieFire on GoAztecs.com."

If I'm understanding the scoreboard correctly, looks like the Buffs are up early against Houston. Here's actually a link that seems to be better at seeing how the Buffs are doing in each match- https://www.birdiefire.com/tournament/7834/team/8276/ . Looking at it, it does look like match play, with whichever team ending up with 3 or more individual winning players in their matches out of 5 playing being the team victor over the other university. So far, 2 Buffs are up by 2 holes so far EARLY in their rounds.

Per the scoring link I posted above, looks like the Buff's lost a tough one today to (unranked) Houston, so I believe they'll be in the consolation bracket the rest of the tournament. Looks like the the Buffs lost 3 matches to 2 to the Cougars (or at least the Buffs were up in the 2 matches left, so assume they count as individual wins), and 2 of the matches lost were by one hole, so definitely could have gone either way.

Hope they come back strong tomorrow.

To correct my post directly above, the Buffs evidently defeated Houston in a tiebreaker so they will advance to the "championship bracket" per the official cubuffs.com article summarizing the day's results (http://www.cubuffs.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=209979187). (The detailed live scoring link I posted above still shows Houston with the win 3 matches to 2, so obviously (and thankfully) is inaccurate.)

Keep going with the winning ways Buffs!

The 1st part of the cubuffs.com article is quoted below-

"
SAN DIEGO – The University of Colorado women’s golf team tied Houston 2 ½ - 2 ½ and advanced on a tiebreaker to the championship bracket after completing the first round of match play here Monday afternoon in the San Diego State Farm Invitational.

“We haven’t played match play much at all so it’s something new and really pretty fun,” said Colorado head coach Anne Kelly. “I think the athletes on our team had a lot of fun playing today.”

After 18 holes of play, the match remained all knotted up and was forced to a tiebreaker, which favored the eighth-seeded Buffaloes as Colorado won five holes to Houston’s three.
...

The Buffs will face the tournament’s top seed and No. 13 team in the nation, Oklahoma State in the second round on Tuesday. Oklahoma State defeated 16-seed UC Irvine 4-1-0 on Monday.

Assuming the scoring is accurate THIS time (it wasn't yesterday) at https://www.birdiefire.com/tournament/7834/team/8276/ , looks like the Buffs (ranked #48 per http://rankings.golfweek.com/rankings/default.asp?T=wt) just got a very good win over #10 (Golfweek)/ #18 (Golf World/ WGCA Top 25 poll) Oklahoma State. The Buffs lost two matches pretty badly 5&4 (For those not into golf I believe that means the player had lost a net 5 holes to their opponent / so match stopped with 4 holes to play), but got wins in the other 3 match play matches to win overall 3 matches to 2.

Continues to look like the Buffs got a great transfer (from defending champion Duke) this past summer in sophomore Esther Lee, who easily won her 1st match today 6&5 and, going into this tournament, is the #37 ranked golfer in the country per http://rankings.golfweek.com/rankings/default.asp?T=wi . Congrats also to the other Buffs who won today Brittany Fan and Jamie Oleksiew, the later of whom is one of two Buffs (also Ms. Lee) who've won both of their matches in this tournament. It should also be said the two Buffs who lost, #3 and 4 ranked on the team, had to go up against the Cowboys 2 top ranked players.

It looks like the schedule is for the Buffs to play another match play match this afternoon, I assume against one of the other 3 teams from the championship bracket who win their 2nd round matches that started this morning. If I had to guess, I'd guess the Buff's might next be playing conference foe ASU, as they're the other team that has won a match that's already finished. (Matches still ongoing- Cal/ Tennessee and SDSU/ UNLV.)

Cubuffs.com article reviewing yesterday's matches available at http://www.cubuffs.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=209981352 . Sounds like the Buffs will be facing off against Tennessee, the other undefeated (3-0) team in this tournament, this morning, with the 1st matches having started ~35 minutes ago.

Also sounds like the win against ASU yesterday was EXTREMELY CLOSE, being a 2.5-2.5 finish, with the Buffs winning via the 3rd tiebreaker. (Personally think it's too bad they don't play a sudden death playoff. Per the cubuffs.com article-
"Lee found herself in a closer battle during the day’s second round, where she and Roberta Liti finished all-square. The match came down to the final hole, which they both pared and forced the third tiebreaker to decide the outcome. The third tiebreaker was determined by taking the No. 1 handicap hole on the course, No. 3 in this case and comparing Lee and Liti’s individual scores on the hole. Lee birdied the hole and Liti pared it, thus giving CU the win.")
