I see Coach Mac as a legitimate interim contingency plan in the event a mid-season dismissal of Dan Hawkins. Had the Buffs lost to CSU or Hawaii, seems like McCartney would have been a readily available safety net.

But I'd imagine CU would like to give Dan Hawkins a chance to have his big year, as promised. And then go after an active coach in December.

I think all this Mac talk started last summer at the 'Buff For Life' golf tournament. Mac & many ex-players were there minus DII Danny.

It did, and as a reminder from those posts, apparently, Bohn was there too.

I like McElwain as my #1 choice.

He's a western guy, from Washington and played at Eastern Washington.
He is a coordinator at a big time school that has won a NC.
He's a great recruiter
He has a great personality
Oh and his offenses have run the ball extremely well the past 3 years
