No chance! Especially on Hood. The media and women's right groups would come out of the woodwork, and drag every bit of past history through the mud again.

The article says lots of teams offered Hood initially and then backed off when they found out his background. I'm guessing we were one of those teams because it only specifically names 3-4 teams.

One of the comments in the Hood article.

"The only question I have is if this kid was a darker color, would he be given the same opportunity? "

Sad thing is.. probably not.

You're making an illogical point. If they are already on your team - you didn't have previous conduct to go on when recruited, you have no choice but to deal with it. To take on a likely problem is another story. In the Tennessee's kid's case, however, the fault wasn't personal participation, but not stopping an older relative. But in OU's case, this is a huge red flag...

how do you know there wasnt previous conduct when the kid was recruited?

I know for a fact, and several posters here tout how Hawkins out-recruited Stoops and Venables for a certain linebacker on CU's roster, maybe he is off now, that OU dropped recruiting when it was determined the kid would be a huge risk to the football program.

I'm not gonna take the high road or anything, UBT, but in the hypothetical you present, the facts don't stack up.

All evidence, including an in-house from Coach Venables in January, suggests that OU recruited Katoa to the very end.

yes he did.... thats true. What I was told by people very close to the OU program, it wasn't his decision to go to CU that made OU pull their scholly offer, rather Katoa himself. They wont tell me what made Stoops and Venables change their minds at the last hour other than it had to do with Katoa himself. It could be the person who told me doesnt even know themselves.

If I am not mistaken, didnt Katoa have a bit of a troubled past in high school?

Yes, Katoa had a bit of a troubled past in his youth, pretty much like most of the sooners... Whatever.

yes. the kid was recruited and signed. then after that he got in the gun trouble. Once the court lowed all the felony charges to misdemeanors Stoops honored his word and the schools word that he could still come to OU and play on a scholarship but was on a very short leash. He made this weak attempt at a rap video while sitting in an OU cafeteria and the next day was gone, no questions asked. and a scholly ate by OU for a year.

you seem to forget he got in trouble after signing the LOI, much like chaisson

He did have a troubled past, and also trouble with grades. Two issues that raised their heads at CU.

There's two possible reasons you'd post this info.

    1. To suggest that Coach Stoops would withold a scholarship based on a kid's character. If the info is true, then I concede your point.

    2. To imply that Coach Hawk did not in fact out-recruit the OU staff for this one kid. To that point I'd disagree. The OU staff (I believe Stoops was in on the in-home as well, but not positive) continued to pursue the kid after he committed to CU. Of course, nothing's official until he signs, but he was a Buff in his mind before (if) OU quit on him.

Point #1, see Jarobe(video chipwich posted). Stoops did pull/withhold the scholly before the kid even practiced for OU, bit was on campus.

point #2, Stoops does not quit trying to recruit players they really want, 2 wr, one from this year and the kid that is at Alabama last year (Jones??). Stoops and his staff stayed after them up to the last minute when they signed LOI to another school. From my understanding, and I am not on the OU recruiting staff and what I heard was 2nd hand, even after Katoa orally committed to CU, there were still visits and such, then for some reason OU just stopped all contact.... I'm not saying had they not, Katoa would have come to OU, but rather and remember this was told to me, that they stopped recruiting him based on information that they (OU staff) discovered that made it not a favorable deciesin to keep recruiting him.

oh yes I do..... I didnt want Jarobe last year even on OU's campus, and I sure dont want this kid there either.

the story you posted doesnt tell everything. Go read up on it more and you will see things dont add up to making this kid hold a screwdriver to her throat and kidnapping her.

from what I read....Biggest question I have is why Chaisson was still around this girl. One story I read had them dating all through high school then right after LOI signing day he broke it off with her as he would leaving town in a few months. Plus Chaisson was never in any kind of trouble before this.

Still if he exhibits behavior problems as he did, there is no room for him on the OU football team and the Univeristy of Oklahoma campus.

Little bit more serious that failure to pay a traffic ticket.

In the case of Jarboe, it was my understanding the University leadership told Coach Stoops that Jarboe would not be a Sooner. No?

and Stoops agreed with the University's leadership once he was made aware of the video and booted the kid. Stoops never went to bat for the kid after the video was made public....

Stoops made it known had he know about the video before the leadership committee did, Jarabe would have been gone without their involvement.

go back a few years and look at the case surrounding dusty dvoracek and how Stoops handled it. Dusty was never charged with a crime, from his alcohol induced behavior problems as a high school kid in the Dallas area, that didnt surface until after his alcohol incident in Norman where he put his best friend and roommate in the hospital from a severe beating, but Stoops booted him anyway at a time OU was very thin at DT.

Now a year later he came back on the team and even became a captian because of his work off the field in alcohol awareness and anger management. He came to Stoops and asked to rejoin the team, Stoops said no, you were kicked off. Finally someone got to Stoops and said give him another chance, look at all he has done. So Stoops put it before the team on the condition that just 1 "no" vote and Dusty would not rejoin the team.

Stoops has a history at OU that if players get in serious trouble that are gone. Heck he booted the kid from Norman, #85 (name fart here) for a year from the team for stealing gas from a service station in his freshman year in 2007.

Yipes, ubt. You're getting your head handed to you on this one.

All this thread proves is Stoops, like Hawkins and every single other hc in the country has made mistakes in judging the true character of 17 and 18 year olds.

    Big news there.

But let the holier than thou shyte rest.

No way could he ever play for CU.

"I didn't participate in it, (yes Hood did! follow closely) but I was in the room. I was there … and I didn't stop it."

"she (Hood's cousin) had been tied up with duct tape by both Sanico and Hood, according to the victim's testimony."

According to Hood's cousin, Hood did participate in it, by tieing her up!!!

    Hood should tryout for Nebraska!
